Looks to be a routing issue, hop 7 completely timed out. Try to adjust the wait time to get the ip address of the router timing out.

Code: Select all
tracert -w 30000 64.237.36.250

if you can obtain the ip of the router having issues (it will have a high response time) you can try to contact the host to see if they are aware of it. It looks to be on gtt.net's network

I don't quite follow, would you like me to try that code and post my results?

I've been using wtfast lately, and it works fine for the time being.

I can contact my host, but I don't see a need as I'm sure there's still a work-around.
If it's only this server, that I do lag on I don't see how it's my "routing" or anything to do with me. I believe it's your server, and nothing to do with me.
If you ask others on the server(lately) they will tell you the same thing, that they are indeed lagging like me as well.
Weird how I ping fine on any server on rtcw 1.0 and any server on 1.4, except ECGN. :/

The first hop is your router and then after that you reach your isp's gateway and then on to the internet through a series of router/gateways to reach your destination. Tracert basically traces the route you take to reach your destination which is the ECGN server. Not every one is affected because not everyone takes the same route to reach ecgn depending on their location. Hop #7 is taking to long to respond and timing out before moving on to the next possible route. #7 is outside your network and beyond your isp's control.

Tracert defaults to 4000ms before it times out I believe so you want to increase that to try and get #7 to respond if its actually online so you can get the IP. After you have the IP you can contact the host and make them aware of the issue. Run the command I posted....

Still timing out on line 7, here's the results of the command you asked me to do.

So, whats next? Contact who? My ISP or gtt.net?

Contact both since it looks like your ISP is routing to gtt.net maybe they can choose an alternate path but most likely neither will do anything other than listen to your complaints.

You could also try a VPN service...

I'm also having problems with gtt.net

Code: Select all
Tracing route to beach.ecgnetwork.co [64.237.36.250]

I am also getting the lag continuously throughout the day and night but only to ecgn (which happens to be the only server I play). I can play for 15 mins fine and then it lags for 2 or 3 and it continues on and on like that. :/

Don't worry, you're not alone. Apparently it's me that's lagging when trying to connect. Although I know you, and several others who have the same issue.

I don't know if this is a related issue, but my ping used to be about 120-130 and better at certain times. Since I've started playing recently (after a few months away) it's been 200 most of the time, sometimes drops to 150. The routing has become really bad and it's hard to play.

It's not you or the server lagging. It's one or more of the machines between the origin(you) and destination(ecgn). I believe we already explained this to you and sarcasm is not needed. MAA has no control over the machines outside the network. Not everyone is affected because depending on your location and the machine causing the issue, some players will take a different route to the server.
