Why my name is wrong?

Hi Admin,

I played with you all for months, last night I received a warning that my name was offensive. My name is « Gigz »

This nametag come from a place in Quebec where everybody speak french. There's a city where all people call you gigongigz. So this a small diminutive of that word.

All my stats are on that name. So, I wish to continue to use that name.

What's the meaning of that word for you?
Do I have to change my name to play on your server?

I must add that I never meant to hurt anyone by using that name.

Sounds like a mistake to me... offensive name warnings are only given to people with curse words in their names, or racist words or the like...

I don't see anything offensive with yours

i noticed that you changed from gigz to gigon last night because i had to add the new name to my buddy list. i did not see any warning that you should change your name and i could not find any reference in the logs.

as far as i'm aware, there's nothing offensive about gigz. i actually thought it was a reference to either cpu speed or a performance.

It was probably a mistake. As far as Im concerned, continue to use Gigz.

I was the one that was there and was asked to give you a warning about your name at Bossman request as he found it to be offensive. I cant remember why but he can explain it.

Actually I was on last night but it wasn't me that had the problem. As I recall someone on TS mentioned that there was a player with a name that had a racial connotation to it. When asked what it was the person mention "Jig", which when spelled the way I just spelled it could be taken as a racial slur. I also happens to be pronounced almost the same as Gigz.

At the time I didn't bother to look at the player roster and just responded when Gigz asked why it was offensive that it was a slang with a bad connotation. He volunteered to change it. His name is fine by me and if I had seen the spelling at the time I would have corrected whoever originally brought it up.

1. You changed your name even though you didn't fully understand why. That's showing respect for the admins and people in the server.

2. You came to the forums and kindly asked why your name was wrong. You were polite, patient, and willing to see other people's views.
