Windows 8 & rtcw

Postby murkey » Tue Dec 10, 2013 1:21 am

my friend is trying to get on ECGN but keeps getting kicked from pnkbstra.exe he ran it as admin, disabled uac, disabled firewall, antivirus, it seems pnkbstra.exe will not run no matter how he tries to run it. any suggestions on what may be the cause of this?

You have to download and run pbsvc.exe
Also moving the uac slider all the way down in Windows 8 doesn't really turn it off but more like Windows 7 silent mode

As wolfy said, you need to actually install it - a.k.a. install it as as service. S4ndmod has it in PB patch and there should be a link on this site (if memory serves me right) as well.

If you can't find the link let me know..installer is in s4ndmod repository which is on 1 of my external drives..god knows which one so use this as last resort. =)

I just played for the first time today since installing windows 8.1 and it seemed like the game was skipping frames every so often. I cant play like that, it wasn't smooth at all. I'm debating on re-installing windows 7 just for RTCW...
