Just a quick couple of questions:

1) WTF is r_picmip, what does it do and how can I change it because I keep getting kicked from a uk server (where i get like 25 ping) even though as far as I know i just have the standard setting for it.

2) Is there any way I can make the console darker so that I can read it without turning my brightness down? At the momment I have to use the slider in options to lower the brightness so that i can read the console then raise it again so that i can see to play, it's bs. If I can't alter the brightness can I at least change the coplour of the console text? Please help :(

I sorted the r_picmip thing it wanted me to change r_picmip2 not r_picmip. Not sure there is a difference but when i changed it to r_picmip2 2 I stopped getting kicked. Still can't see how to fix the console though.

r_intensity 1 is default, this makes it pretty dark
r_intensity 3 is as high as you can go without getting kicked on PB enabled servers, well for those that dont use extra special type settings any way
hope this helps

CVARs such as the following increase FPS by drawing less of the intended map or less objects (the less you have to draw, the faster your rates). Weaker computers can get a needed boost by eliminating unncessarily drawn items:
r_picmip (default 1) [high picmip alone eliminates tree limbs]
r_picmip2 (default 2)

This isn't true all server are different, OSP servers allow up to 6, and shrub and Bani servers most allow 3 but some allow 4. It's all server to server, but most servers go with 3, but you'll get some that might be higher or lower, check what the servers you play on allow, and set it to that, and you won't get kicked.

yeah, pb will tell you if u have any cvar settings that are out of bounds for that server, when it does its initial start up when you connect to a server.

Parrot.... it sounds to me like you might have messed with

/r_rmse

At really high settings it will blur text so much you can't even see it's there. It also blurs the entire map in a way which only leaves sharply defined angles and avatars.

You can't even see the text in console when it's really high, so have to type blindly. Bring console down, type /r_rmse 0 and enter.

Not sure if this helps.

So if I have a computer that can handle anything, default 1 would be the best for me? Because no tree limbs?

Does default 1 make it faster? I am confused.

I'll give it a go and let you know if it works. Thanks

a higher value will eliminate the tree limbs and various other things.
picmip default is the best to use for me anyways. the higher u go the more shit it looks. in most systems it doesn ffect framrates either way. only thing i can suggest is to play with the settings and find the ones u like. u can always change back. it will always tell u the default settings when u type the command without a value

Look at one of my screenshots, go to the thread Office and 'gA, thats what happens when picmip and picmip2 are high. It looks shitty, and you get better framerate and you can see easier.

i'd rather have 60 fps and look good than 100 plus and look like shit then burn my retinas
