New Maps

Any chance of a map rotation or at least trying a new map once a night at a certain time? I realize a lot of the people still playing on ECGN have only ever known mp_beach, but you might be able to retain the regulars and maybe even get them to try something new after 6 years.

There's the usual suspects like mp_ice and mp_village, but other maps like mp_infamy (is that the one with the crashed plane?), mp_mitchelldown, custom beach, and bk_forest1 would work great for a server of this size.

This comes up a lot. What I can tell you is maps outside of the normal rotation (think GOTY maps) drive people off the server faster than about anything else. The appeal for some of those user-made maps is almost zero at this point, sorry to say.

That being said, know that any Admin can temporarily change to any of the GOTY maps or Kung Fu Grip, So feel free to ask. I like to ask the other players currently on, though, and if there's a majority of people that want to stay with Beach, I'm not going to force it. But I never mind someone asking.

Slaughter, I know, often changes maps in the evenings.

We tried it, half the server would leave when other maps came on and came back to play beach. Nobody knows why but sadly it's the case.

And yeah cateye's right obscure maps are a waste of time. Half the guys on the beach don't even have kungfu let alone any thing else. Oh for the autodownloader from ET...

MG or MarketGarden , is a large map I liked.
But there was a better version "anx_mg_final.pk3" i believe.

Added doors, windows and additional tunnels made it great game play for a 64 player server like ECGN.

I am sure some of you guys remember this map.
I think TSG hosted it around 2004-2005.

I see the desertion on map change too
just have to 'sell' the map or maps...
maybe that admin type status messages for map rotations? i dunno

Too bad, there's plenty of maps that are just as good as beach. The admins like Slaughter and Chick have been doing a pretty good job of changing it up manually at least.

How about DDay2 map. It is very much like beach except you have to get the docs to the beach landing radio.
It would be nice to a try new map each week so people could get used to a new map.
Have one night where a new map is rotated with the usual 3-5 maps.
Please take a look at DDay2 and I think people will like it and play it.
