invalid cd key

i dont have my original cd key or disks for wolf... and ive been using a different cd key, ive been able to play on ecgn for a while until today. i started gettin the invalid cd key thing dunno what to do..

I get this error every so often - I had to buy wolf again b/c my original CD cracked and when i installed the latest wolf and used its CD key it was an invalid one for some reason so i had to switch back to my old one original CD key from 03. If i switch from an osp server to ecgn i get the error. One way to fix this is to go into your options and select CD key - my CD key is always incomplete; i.e. missing the very last 2 character combination in the code - so i just fill it in (completing the CD key) and then i can join back up. If this doesnt work restarting wolf ALWAYS does the trick.

The only time I ever get an Invalid CD Key message is if I was disconnect abrupty by a server crash etc. I found that if I just wait a few minutes and reconnect, all is fine. My guess is that when abruptly disconnected, the master server thinks I'm still on, and I just need to wait for it to forget about me? I used to think that typing the last few characters of the key back in was what fixed it, but now I think it's just the time that goes by while I'm typing with one fat finger..lol. I read once that rtcw always hides the last few characters of the key on purpose, and that it hasn't really lost them? (could be wrong)
@ Glitch - It sounds like your problem runs deeper than this? Depending on where you got your key, maybe someone else is jumping on a server before you do with the same key?

instead of installing wolf... Just copy all the files from the CD to the hardrive and you dont need the disc. you would be able to run wolf there and you can copy it as many times w/o installing.
for invalid cd key just quit then go back into wolf and your problems are solved. in small chance problem persists /reconnect, or wait and it will usually go away.
Likewise to what skibb and power said. Going to the ecgn server always gives me problems connecting and must reconnect a couple of times. only the ecgn server gives me this problem.
FYI, if your cheap enough "like me" enter a game and then give the cdkey to a friend, or cousin in my case. It will say invalid cd key for about 100+ retries or something, and will eventually let both players play using the same cd key. HAX1!!1!
