Strange Invalid CD Key

Fri Jul 11, 2003 3:40 pm

Greetings,

This is some really strange behavior. I have two PC's networked together. For some reason, I get the Invalid Cd key message on my pc when I try to join a game. The other pc connects no problem (with the same CD key). Also, if I leave Invalid CD Key message on my screen, and then go to sign on with my other PC...as soon as the other PC get's in....my pc get's in. It's like my pc can not get in until my other pc is connected. Strange. Both PC's go directly to a hub, and the hub goes to the DSL? Strange. Is it something with the ports or network settings?

sounds like some weird bugs in the RtCW programming... just go find a friend that doesn't play their RtCW anymore and gank their key. ;)

i had a problem logging in with the same message a week or two ago. I went to the cd key in the game menu and it was gone :freak: so i just typed it back in and it was fine. umm... doubt its the same problem, but couldnt hurt to check.

More strange behavior,

Yea it does seem to erase the key every now and then, although as someone else suggested previously, I made the CD key file read only. And it's not a matter of the same CD key on both machines. I have two valid ones, and it seems no matter what I do, my PC will not log on until the other one gets in. It doesn't matter which CD key is on which machine.

Yup mine use to do that to. I would just go back and retype the key again and it would work. Must be hmm I don't know.

talking about RTCW or ET? Cause ET has a cd-key problem even though there aren't really CD's.
