Binding salute and forward to one key?

Fri Dec 20, 2002 4:28 pm

I am getting so tired of having those ally panzers standing in front of the bunker blocking everyone. They kill what? One Axis and in the process get 6 allies killed because an axis's panzer gets shot in the bunker. Brilliant. Anyways, so instead of reaching over and pushing my salute key constantly, I want to bind it to my forward key. Anyone have any idea how to do this? I tried "/bind uparrow +salute +forward" but that did not work. I am guessing it is something more complex then that then?

:cool:
I think the problem is that once you bind it, the forward function disappears. I use the standard (wasd) directional keys. Setting binding +salute to one of them erases its original function, in your case forward. One button, one function.
I haven't tested this, so I could be wrong, but it's the same with all the other commands.

ive got my push binded to the F key, its close enough to the other direction buttons that i dont fumble around lookin for it.
and can still push forward to push those stupid panzers...i alwas aim to mess up their shot, or push just as i hear the wrrrr...snipers in the door are the dumbest by far.

binding push with forward seems too weird to me, youd end up pushing when you dont want to id think. youd have trouble corpse dragging too, not that its terribly useful, but damn is it funny.

if only i could bind playdead to a key properly...i would just take a nap in the ducts, and wait for my guests to arrive.

:rotflmao: I like that, If you ever figure out how to bind play dead, let me know, I think it would be a good thing both ways, allies or axis.

You can put salute on for the entire game, just type in console \+salute so it is always on, if you want it back of type \-salute hope i helped you out ;)

Playdead binding...

Heir, the easiet way (at least the way that will work) is to create a file named "dead.cfg" and save it in your Wolfenstein's "Main" directory (usually it's "C:\Program Files\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\Main").

In that "dead.cfg" file have one line of text;

playdead

Now, from within the console type the following (only have to do this once);

\bind # exec dead.cfg (where # is any key you want)

There you go. Hit your bound key and you'll drop to the ground. Hit the key again and you'll pop up. Keep in mind that you have to remain dead for 2.5 seconds, and that once you get up it will be like you've been revived...you'll be in a useless stupor for 3 seconds.

To the first post about how to bind forward and salute to one key. I don't know if someone has already pointed this out, but it would be just the same as typing /+salute in console. It will be on all the time this time. However, peole won't be able to give you ammo, med packs, etc. as easily. B/c if you move into someone, it will push them out of the way, same way as having it on full time.

why go to the trouble of making a file, just type /bind # playdead (or +salute) that way you don't have to make a file or anything. Well that's what I think anyways.

Ah, thanks a lot. The reason is, it's so annoying when you're running out of the bunker and have to mash the key everytime. I just want it for those times when there is a lot of people who don't seem to know how to move out of there fast enough. That playdead thing is interesting too...
