What do you want in an admin?

I'll get right to the point. I don't agree with the admin decisions lately on many levels and feel it is an abuse of powers. It all but confirms what I have been thinking for awhile. The stuff I saw last night pissed me off and it makes me wonder what I don't see. Perhaps I am in the wrong though and that is what most of the people on the server want in an admin.
So my question is, what type of admin do you like? Do you like the admins that are lenient and don't kick for every little thing thing they see or, do you like admins who are strict and by the book and kick for anything they deem kick worthy?

I´m agree with your point of view.
For me an admin must seem as he wasn´t there; and acts when the situation is extreme. For me, his work is observe the situation, and no kick someone cos some regular asks for it or just says "dont block" or cos the poor newbie is bloking the admin; he must not do !admintest just when he arribes, it seems arrogant and overbearing (in some cases not seems, just is true); and the most important, he must be in the server...I have been played about 5 hour each day and more than the 70% of that time there wasn't an admin (and still), and I have had to see too much insults, racist comments, teamkillers and intencionated doorblokers.
I like more the aphid or rev.maynard´s style of admin, than others.
PS: Overcoat, one respect of others players, all of us long time ago were newbies; be understanding cos be an admin doesn´t means be better; its a responsability, not a game or a reward.

has to be a compromise between the two!
can't be a wuss but can't be a power made insane kicker!
a admin should know the people he plays with and know whether they can be trusted to inform about the tards that polute are dear server! this is because an admin cannot be everywhere, not even while they spectate!
they need to know when to give a warning and when to kick and when to ban!
i would say someone gets two warnings!
then they get kicked with say a 2 min temp ban!
then if they come back and are still being a tard then i say ban them for a day or a week! (week for persistant people who have been kicked before!)
this is for more standard stuff like tkers and blockers!
but there should be a harsher rule for extreme cases such as rascism/sexism etc
they should get one warning then a kick ban if they don't stop! i would say a days ban minimum for this!
these are just my opinions and i guess i stray a bit to the harsher admins side! but on a large server there needs to be order among the kaos and that is what admins should provide!

but if they are stood there doing nothing they have all the time in the world to read the warning!:lol:
i mean for people who are blocking tking on purpose! when someone comes to your face and pops you!
or when someone is just sitting in bunker door with venom and can't be pushed!
or for pursistant bunker panzers who just love to get that one kill of the axis who hasn't moved in the spawn! while everyone else is unharmed from the blast cus of spawn block!
subsequently blocking his team wasting their spawn block and then the axis panzers can anihilate them all!
but if they are stood there doing nothing they have all the time in the world to read the warning!:lol:

I'd like it if there wasn an admin specing the whole time then he would be able to investigate requested bans from the regulars and process them quickly and fairly, it would be a shitty job though.

I know for direct experience, that they dont read nothing. My bros isn´t the best player of the world, but I know he doesn´t read nothing (for that he was kicked one time, he didn´t see the warnings):eek:

there needs to be a big flashing sign that comes up saying stuff like move you fool or you will be kicked! or yes you do indeed have the docs!:D
well there should be a message in the middle of the screen rather than in the chat part! as that will get missed by everyone v56 v21 v22's etc i think that it is possible for their to be a message posted in the middle of a certain player screen! like when you are camping and it says you have 10 seconds to move!

i know that alot of admins do do that! but it is normally only when there are a few admins about! one will spec for a few games then swap with another so they can play for a bit!
don't see it much but it does happen! when i mostly play it is night time in the us so i have only really seen it at my night time! the us daytime... so you might not have seen it much parrot cus you and i are form the uk!

Well these days my behavour when dealing with people and admining in the beach has been quite different than first days, but I always try to give 2 warnings as a normal procedure and the last one a kick depending on the moment and the guy, I can give him another warning and kick him the next time, I am not very fong of kicking at will but gouy you have understand than the newbabie after being spammed the same dan long sentence 3-4 times by me plus another admin that tell the same too about the same stuff, I have my doubts about if he is going to learn about not stopping on a door, or ladder, Kicking him out, when he is in the main menu with the msg:
"You have been kicked - do not block any door"
That is when he is able to read the entire msg and realize what people have been trying to tell him during the last minutes, then It is up to him to decide to come back like a tard an start insulting anyone and saying he ids going to stop wherever he wants or ask for the rules or any doubt of them
But I know loots of players on the server that I have to kick him inmediately since they know the rules but they do it anyway.
What we really miss is your venom - duct - pirate skills and your "thank thank thank you very much."

When there are several admins on the server now we have a new different type for admin, watching but guys it not easy as many people think, when someone is telling you " XXXXplayer is blocking" first you have to know if that it is true or not, I have to spec him since I have got lots of complains about someone bitching around in the server an those complains were false and were because this guy and the other were mad each other and were trying anything to screw each other.

A good admin is as eager to help as he/she is to discipline
A good admin diffuses a bad situation before things get completely out of hand
A good admin is always inquireing on how to make things better for the community
A good admin supports fellow admins
A Great admin will:

my theory on admining is that if an admin comes to the server and does !admintest, sure some tards will straighten up, but once said admin leaves...the tard is sure to make up for lost time....thats why when i join the server i just do !shake maynard in spec chat just to make sure i got the power of greyskull still w/ me. besides, most people know who teh admins are...i really do believe that some just like seeing _ is a level >0 user go across everyones screen...ie some power trippin goin on, just my opinion tho :x

If there is something that is unsettling, for example, extreme abuse of power, kicking without explaining, favoritism, anything that raise the question hmmm could that have been handled better? its the admins duty to PM any admin for a clarification/reason for that particular action, from there maybe a "better" course of action could be taken. ie admin support.
I guess i missed this situation last night, plz there is an admin forum for problems such as this.
