RTCW is the blast.
I've played MANY fps games and i allways join a Wolf server sooner or later. It's fast pace action, teambased ( if i not play Rambo *cough*) and it's simple to learn. Very hard to let go off...
ET is good but.. no.. The ET mod called TrueCombat:Elite i play ALOT. that is the only game that ever got me to look aside from rtcw.. It's the same as Counter Strike but with much better graphics (stunning) and the best of all. - There is no crosshair!! You either shoot from the hip or need to take real aim with the gun. *Awesome*
Try it out. You need the ET patch 2.6 to work. Find it on http://www.rtcwfiles.com...

Yeah bf2 is the first one of that series that is fast enough for me to get along with. It's slower for sure but not nearly so agonisingly sluggish as the first 2 games.
ET is just wolf for noobs, it's where all the little babies ran to escape getting pwnt by the old skool wolf aristocracy
