Does anyone remember Kali?

Postby BigJollyNazi » Mon Mar 24, 2003 10:55 am

Sup fellas,
I remember back in the day, before the days of broadband, I was sittin' at home wishing there was a way I could play Duke3D with more than 2 people over a modem.

Well that answer came to me in a PC Gamer magazine with a program called: *drumroll* ............. KALI

It was developed by some fellow cuntry boy from Vidalia, GA named Jay Cotton. You could play ANY IPX network compatible computer game over this baby for the nice one-time price of $20! Unlike Dwango which was ONLY doom and was charged BY THE HOUR!

So I hopped on that choo choo train of gamin' love and played my heart out with my Gravis gamepad and started to really own.

My name was ***PHUN*** and me and my friend Trigger6 made this sweet as DM match called 4ROOMS and it rocked the his-ouse. It started to get distributed and ppl loved it.

So my question is: ANYONE EVER HEARD OF KALI?

Let's reminisce together. :-)

See ya'll online.

I've never heard of the program before:P or whatever it was. Anyhows, never really got into computers until last year, so I'm not really familiar with all the "old" stuff I guess.

Wow. I hope I'm not offending anyone with this post. It's just that I love this server and I love you guys and I just wanted to start a little discussion. Thanks for coming to my defense Killer Mike. If any admin wants to delete this discussion, feel free. I won't be offended.

If anything else. Forgive me, because I'm new at this. I'm not new to games (especially RTCW), but the whole discussion board thing. Sorry if I'm causing problems.

Much love,

I used to play Doom , F16, 3Dduke, WarCraft and other IPX
games using Kali. I still have my life long ID and
P/W for updates.:rotflmao:

Kali was one of the 1st IPX/IP tunneling programs.

Nightvision. Dude that's so cool that you used to used Kali. You're right. One of the things I loved about the whole Kail deal was that it was only 20 DOLLARS ONE TIME! I thought that was the best thing ever when I was in the market for some cheap Duke 3D multiplayer fun.
I need to check and see if people still use it. I hope Jay made a bundle on that great program.

I can't believe most of you never heard of Kali.

I never used it because of the price though. Couldn't justify paying money to play multiplayer games when I was not interested in games like that. When I did start to get into multiplayer gaming, I played Quake 2 on Heat.net a bit. I even got to be a Heat.net (no longer exists) trooper and got a t-shirt out of it. I never wore the thing though. There is just some lines of nerdiness I will not cross. That is one of them.

Ah..Kali..used that for years, still have it, complete with my 16k serial number :)

Jay went out of business a few years back, no more updates for Kali, no support, nada, sorry.
