PB Update Kick/Freeze

Postby C)(r!$t(Y)a$ » Sun Nov 23, 2008 2:07 pm

People have been having problems with getting kicked for a PB update problem. Personally I only get kicked sometimes and more often then not freeze out of the game (prob due to my comp but it didn't happen before). I've downloaded a manual update and installed/updated several times and still I either get kicked or freeze out of the game. I know a lot of others have had this problem that haven't before. I searched recent forums for any threads but none have come up so I'm going to post this one so we can figure out whats wrong and fix it with some "hard copy" instructions that people can access without having to get a minute or so of help on the server before they're kicked or for me frozen. Then again I might be the only one having problems with the freeze out even after I've updated PB, in which case any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

P.S. I'm looking at these smiley animations to the side and I feel this one best describes this glitch...:flame:

There was just a new Punkbuster client update put out yesterday, so haven't really seen any problem yet. Maybe just problem updating?

I ran into this yesterday -- I got kicked for a PB INIT FAILURE.

For everyone else: The first thing I do with any PB weirdness is to go to evenbalance.com and download the PunkBuster manual updater (direct link here). Let it do its thing, and 99% of the time the problem goes away.

I thank you for your help, however, I've already done all of this. I knew about the link you've posted but still don't get kicked, but, freeze out of the server. I'm going to re-install my windows system as well as my wolf itself. The only other thing that I can come up with is how to turn off PB auto-update if someone could please tell me how to do that I would be great full. Maybe it won't help but I know when you have a PC problem you need to try everything possible no matter how basic to fix it. I do have the latest version of PB installed and I feel that maybe when it tries to auto update I freeze. If turning off auto update "automatically" kicks you because it can't do it then I'd like to know. Otherwise its kind of funny that my name is Christmas and I can't really afford to get a new PC until after Christmas...lol .

Your game seemed to be working fine a few weeks ago. Did you try a "System restore" to back around that time? If it doesn't work you'll be no worse off and if it does fix the problem you just saved yourself a hassle.
*this may cause you to lose stuff you've download after the restore date.

You've been getting kicked for time outs, command overflows, and ignoring md5 requests. More often than not, you'll only get these when your computer is busy doing something else.

Is your computer running slow in general? Have you checked for viruses, spyware, etc? Try making sure you close out all other running programs.

I use the EndItAll to shut down all that extra stuff I don't need for gaming.

As Man-At-Arms said check for, "viruses, spyware, etc?" then run the
EndItAll program just before gaming.

My punkbuster caught me off-guard today for the pb_update. Standard manual updating procedure was in order. :)

I haven't been playing on the server lately due to internet being retarded for 5 months. :(
