A free anti-hijack program that actually works

Postby =TAO=WARPIG » Wed Oct 28, 2009 5:47 pm

If you're looking for a free anti-malware removal tool that actually works, here you go. My older son is usually banned from using my computer but I caught him last week using it. Surer-than-shit my pc starts acting up. This was a weird one though because it affected my pc when I logged onto the internet for the first time of the session. My "Favorites" were taking much longer than usual to drop-down and the first website chosen took awhile as well. When I wasn't on the internet, clicking on any icon seemed to be delayed by 10 seconds before it actually started to open.

I think you guys could benefit by running a full scan (took 11 minutes on my pc)
a quick scan takes about 6 minutes on my pc. Found 8 Trojans. The real damaging trojans will be the ones that only can be deleted after a reboot.
The culprit of my PC was "bitmeter16.dll"

I was seriously thinking of buying a new pc because I thought that this one was just getting old (11 years, yeah I know it IS old).
It's back to normal once again thanks to a product that actually does what it says.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Get the Free version and be sure to update it, it seems to have an updated version daily.

If the hijacker(s) comes back then they are more than likely re-initializing themselves through "Sytem Restore". If so, turn off "System Restore" WARNING: This will permanently delete all restore points so do so at your own risk. Then run the scanner again. *remember to turn System Restore back on if you use it.

This along with "CCleaner" will keep your PC free of bullshit. Which in turn will make your PC faster and maybe you guys will be able to kill me for once.< that's a joke
:ar15:hijackers and hackers

*I am not affiliated with these programs/software, I am just sick of using programs like AdAware and Spybot and having them waste my time, they would find shit but they were never able to actually get rid of it like Malwarebytes does.
If anyone does try it, let me know if it finds any bullshit on your pc.

I just had the Windows Police Trojan. Normally this would waste your Windows Installation if you get frustrated enough. After checking and removing any virus with free anti-hijack and the culprit keeps returning from nowhere you may want to check the following registry key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command
If there is an entry, or a suspicious entry, (mine was pump.exe) , you will need to enter the Window's recovery console, via installation CD is the only way, and remove the value in this key. Then when you reboot in safe mood run the anti-hack again. Always make sure your anti virus utility is up to date with the latest virus info files from the vendors website. Peace and Happiness.
PS I would also recommend the Malwarebytes utility. It is free. It works.

Get OSX or even better any linux distro and you are set for life. No virus scanners needed and no need for any extra programs :D

Got tired of installing programs and reformatting every three months :ar15:

Yeah the Windows Police trojan, I was just reading where it will block the download of Malwarebytes so you'll have to go through some extra bullshit to download it on your PC. Another good reason to get it now. The OP said that it got rid of the Police trojan for him.
I'm going to see if they take donations, I don't mind sending them one at all. Saved me tons of time and a re-installation of Windows twice now, not too mention all of the other good stuff I got on my PC.
