Perhaps I'll get flamed, but I play 1.0 because everyone I know is there. I've been running clans and servers since around 2003. So, it really isn't about better gameplay in the whole 1.0 vs 1.4 debate. It's more of the ppl I know and the activity of my servers.

My first server was a 1.4 server and I was going to move my clan to 1.4 at that time, but too many wanted to keep playing 1.0. Some didn't like the 1.4 community as much (although 1.0 these days has it's share trash talkers).

I think both versions has pros and cons. I won't list them all here. In general you could start this sort of topic at a 1.0 forum and get plenty of anti 1.4 responses. In a 1.4 forum it's the opposite. Why not play whatever version you like and not judge what other people do?

I've recently intalled 1.4 and will probably start playing it more often in the hopes to find a decent obj server. In 1.0 it's mostly dm based. Lot's of clan scrims and competitive gameplay. But, I wouldn't mind finding a decent obj game once in a while.

As for the bots I only know of 1 server that uses bots and the bots are only to fill empty space when not allot of people are playing. That server also stole the source code from s4ndmod for whatever that is worth. It's possible other servers have bots, but I only play dm these days and none of them use bots.

In terms of drop reload in 1.0, you may be suprised by how many decent players in 1.0 prefer no drop reload. We sometimes play without it on certain nights. I hear plenty of 1.0 players complain about s4ndmod and quite often the topic comes up that the game would be better without s4ndmod (other than it's nuke protection).

Anyway, that just my point of view.

Be happy because I try to convince some 1.0 players to update to 1.4 and play in ecgn =) I did it with Nitro, the leader of my team.

Last thing between 1.0 and 1.4, I would say that 1.4 is for great tourneys and is for fun. I agree that 1.0 tourneys aren't very good ...
