hey I was checking out screens of BF 1942 secrets of wwii, and I must say, it looks pretty dang cool.. does anyone know how BF stacks up in compairison to RTCW? I mean, being a wolfensteiner for so long, I've become dependant on playing it, is this other game just as good or better?

It's a different style of play, I can't say whether it's better or not, since I haven't really played RTCW. I downloaded the new Enemy Territory game but I didn't like it very much.

Best thing you can do, is download the multiplayer demo and give it a shot! There are still lots of people playing it.

But remember, the demo is version 1.1 or something, and we've had several patches, so keep in mind it could be quite buggy.

The focus of BF1942 is TEAMPLAY. you play on a team, and together with other players, you must capture flags on the battlefield to drive the enemies tickets down, so you win.

Very, very fun game indeed, especially when you play on 60+ player servers, the action is intense!! Tanks rolling everywhere shooting, planes dropping bombs around you, Navy destroyers pounding the beaches, infantry shooting, jeep driving, submarines, Air Craft carriers, the list is endless! But the game is a resource hog, you have to have a pretty good system to run it with good looking graphics and good frames.

Give it a try, see if you like it. There's a new Desert Combat demo that was JUST released today, .38, that you may want to download if you buy the game. It turns the game into the US/Iraq war that happened a few moths ago. Very fun

I was a die hard RTCW player my friend told me about BF1942, it didn't really intrest me at the time but he insisted I at least try the demo. Well I downloaded the demo and it sat unistalled on my desktop for about a week or so. Then one day I said what the hell let me try it. I was blown away the maps are huge in comparison and the vehicles add another demention, you have land sea and air. The game is great you should really try it one thing to keep in mind the game is much beefer then RTCW so you will need to have a fairly high end machine to enjoy it as well as broadband connection

hey guys, I recently got a copy of bf1942 from a friend so I want to give it a try,, which servers do you play so? ( but I´m still going to play RTCW for a very long time, as well as ET)

Can't compare them, 2 totally different styles.

I have both, and never really liked RTCW, just somehting about it I didn't find fun.

We had a Counter-Strike clan, full server everything, haven't ran a Half-life exe since what September last year ? What ever day the multiplayer demow as released :)

Dont let the graphics discourage you guys. They aren't as high end as some new shooters, but no other game allows for as much interactivity as BF42. With as much going on in the game super high texture is last thing on your mind.

Where's a good place I can download the demo at a good rate? and I have a decent comp and broadband connection.

its turning out to be a pretty sweet game, the airplane control is a little hard though.. I finally got a plane off the ground and was flying around for a little while, and thought, it'd be super cool if I could jump out of the plane, not long after that I pressed E, and I was rushing to see the ground meet me.. Soo with that in mind, how do I use a parachute? I wanna land or parachute on the japanese axis boats and steal one of their planes, not cause I need it, just cause I want to see if I can do it.

press 9 to open your chute, experiment on how low you can get before the need to open the chute, as for the planes a joystick is recomended and lots of practice if you really want to get good. Glad to see you like the game maybe you will get the full version and join us,we also run the expansion Road to rome from what I understand they may have Gold addition that has both games together, if it's not already out

I play both and like them both. RTCW is faster and therfore does not give the opportunity for as much teamwork. Teamspeak is the shit if you are playing 1942. The Admins are a great help when you start playing. ECGN has great servers for both 1942 and RTCW. I heard a bunch of crap about getting kicked from 1942 and it is not true. friendly fire does kill your teammates though!! The desert warefare download is the stuff in my opinion for 1942. Beach 24/7 as it is now called is hard to beat!

Looks like I'll have to buy a new TPI engine for my car before I can buy this game :( thats ok though, I can play RTCW till then.

or I could find a viper engine.. but would have to cut the front end of my car and stretch it by at least 6 inchs...
