strafing is the way to go, i use mouselook and a special keys..... mouse keys for moving, and keyboard for shooting and other stuff, it works better for me than default settings, and i've introduced it to many friends and they like it too

mouse2 backward
a straif left
s shoot
d action key(2nd fire on games with 2nd fire)
f straif right
i've had like over 20 1 on 1 fights with keek, yeah i remember them because they are the best moments on this game when i beat him, i think i've only won 5-6 of them , we straif and jump around so much that i lose track of him, and he pumps me full of lead behind me...

I thought i used messed up controls, but you definitely have me beat.

well keekanoo was pretty good when we played, but i think he learned from me:D there is one thing that I have a hard time being humble about, and that is my 1v1 skills. so if you have them, brag away man.
