Damn...ping

Postby Slaughter » Fri Dec 12, 2003 12:01 pm

here's my specs:

cable-comcast
Anthon xp 2400 (2.0 ghz)
512 Ram
ATI Radeon 9800 pro (128 meg)

Ok well I played wolf at 24-7 beach since the server started, never had any problems at all even thro the geforce 3 days, now all of a sudden my

FPS used to be 90....now they are jumping from 20-90
Ping used to be a solid 50, now they are jumping from 50-800

Is it Punkbuster, or is it something else I don't know about???

Its getting to much to play anymore having problems even shooting my mp40, thinking about quiting wolf all together, but i love the server, any suggestions????

Hmm. Your tracert and a Traceroute back to you seems fine.

Scan for viruses? Run a spyware remover? Does this only affect RTCW/ET games?

Trever

Dont worry bout it

Hey dont worry about it. I have the exact same problem. I used to play on the 24/7 beach server flawlessly no problems but now the game has become very choppy all of a sudden and its very frustrating. Other games such as NHL 2004 and Other games that I play run just fine with no problem. Also I just went to the Happy Penguin Depot server and had no choppiness and no lag it was nice. When I asked why I have so much choppiness on Beach 24/7 people responded "It's Punkbuster" So basically alot of others are having problems as me and you so dont worry about it. Not sure how to fix it though

LOL:lol: . So can we all just post our connection traces now? :rotflmao:

BTW Slaughter if you notice your choppiness and sudden lag really just occurs when PB is being verified to it's host and updated (cVar checks, etc. during the gaming). The additional item that may be making it worst than other servers is that there are quite a number of players on at one time ( that's why the lag wasn't there in HP Trev. HP doesn't have PB activated) It's just something we have to live by :violin: :D

Any contenders.....(disagree)

yea punkbuster should go, very few people cheat and those that do cheat because they suck and you dont notice it, and PB lags like the first minute you play like hell.

It is way too choppy for me to play. I agree, admins can deal with cheaters, they are easy to spot. The ones that are not easy to spot are the ones that suck anyways. Many people are having the same problems with punkbuster, makes the game way to choppy. We are starting to lose some regulars. Punkbuster is not needed.
