STOP Banning people with new GUIDs

This is not about me, but a certain admin really needs to stop banning people just because they have new GUIDs. If you haven't noticed a lot of oldschool players and even some new players (including rapha the Quake Live superstar) are putting their cyberboots on again for the OSP cup.

A lot of these players will have new GUIDs. Some of these guys haven't played for 10 years and are coming back. It is ridiculous to ban and a bit Nazi-esque? :) whenever a player with a new GUID is banned only for that reason. As the only active pub server those who are shaking off the rust are forced to play on ECGN. That's not a knock against ECGN, but I am saying since this is the only active pub server this certain admin or admins need to wake up and stop the unnecessary bans.

I don't condone cheating in any way but new GUID has nothing to do with cheating. Innocent until proven guilty. If you have definitive proof of a new GUID player cheating then by all means ban his ass. But never simply ban over a new GUID. You are banning some of the originators of this game and in some cases banning legendary FPS players and people who are new to the game. Essentially you are banning those who try to keep the game alive.

So please, do not ban just because someone has a new GUID and they are better than you. Such actions should warrant the removal of admin status imo. And yes, it has happened to me but I am speaking on behalf of these players that are getting unfairly banned.

Server is down right now so I can't check bans. New guids are not usually banned but if they are getting the game from steam it defaults the guid to a banned guid and not a new one. These players need to check their CDkey and make sure it is right.

Also n00b and wolfplayer are banned names and will cause a kick. Makes sure that those names are not defaulted in their config.

Likethat you seem to be a fair admin and I know that n00b and wolfplayer are banned names. That is not the issue I am referring to. I didn't want to name names, but if you have a new GUID and you kill Deadeye he will ban you. I've seen this many times and it has also happened to me. His admin status should be removed imo if he continues to do this.

Deadeye banned me, is this the reason why? I'm still confused as to what else I did and had no warnings... He told me to go to the forums and still hasn't checked himself I guess.

I don't know you but if you were banned by Deadeye it was probably because you had a new GUID. Nobody except cheaters should be banned. The community is small enough as it is so all I have to say is no more banning people unless they are cheating.

I used to play regularly but not so much anymore. Yes this is a forum alias. I like to keep a low profile but I'm nobody special.

That's just my opinion. If you think shrub is real RTCW that's fine. These are the only forums I know of that still exist for RTCW so I post here. My opinion is that new guids should not be banned because it has nothing to do with cheating and you're killing off whatever is left of this small RTCW community. The more the merrier.

i just bought the game in steam sale. want to look back for the multiplayer. searched for internet server list cause ingame is already down. found this server. instant got banned :(((.
