Sound problem

Postby [A.S.H.]ironman » Sun Oct 20, 2002 8:26 pm

hi all

because beach isnt made for 64 players sound drops out a few times during the game....Then u have to fix it by getting into main chat by pussing ~ and you will have to typ /s_stop
by the time u have done it u have good sound and ur dead...
To solve this problem do the following ...Bind /s_stop to a key like this: /bind m s_stop
if the sound quits again simple press m and you will have ur sound back.....simple..

I'm also thinking about cycling it with the website message because people keep asking.

Casus

Are they..

Are they still updating RTCW? Hopefully they are and will fix this soon in a patch.

Yeah grate idea.....but....NO

Its a good idea of making a s_stop auto message..Because people keep asking.
I thougdt of it a week ago, but didnt share it..because we get even more auto message's on the server..and that is a bad thing i think..

sometimes i/you/we miss a teammessege simple because to many players are saying stuff..its nice when i come in limbo to read the messege's that i missed, from my teammates..

So thats why i made this messege..i'v anyone who's anybody, is a bit intressted in the server (wich still is nr1 in my book),And its Creators/Clans and players,,they will come see the server and find all our messege including the bind s_stop one....

That's not a bad idea but why not try to fix the problem entirely? Try doing the following and see if it helps.

Try adjusting your SOUNDMEGS. Thsi is the amount of memory alotted to sound in RTCW. The default is something wimpy like 16. You can double that and it should stop the problem.

To do this:

1. Drop down the console (hit ~)
2. Type /com_hunkmegs to see the current setting.
3. Type /com_hunkmegs xx (where xx is the amount of memory you want to allocate to sound - 32 should be enough).
4. Restart the game.
5. Drop down the console again.
6. Type /com_hunkmegs to verify that the change took place.

Since I made that change, my sound never crashes.

I'm not sure what you mean by other server sounds but it shouldn't screw anything up. If it does I'd be interested to know. BTW, are you sure that the default was 56? I'd swear it was 16. Maybe that's the default for zonemegs...can't remember.
