New Features for Wolf server

Postby MMmmGood » Thu Jan 02, 2003 7:25 pm

Hey All-

Shrub has released a new version of his mod which is now running on the server, and it has some new features that you should be aware of. He has added soundpacks!

What this means is sounds that you as a player can play and everyone else can hear.

To get the soundpack, just go into the server and it will auto-download.

You'll notice new sounds when someone is squirted by a flamer and when a body collapses. You can also play some of the sounds by using the /Lsound command.

Here are some of the sounds you can play:

fear1 fear2 halt heifer meingut schnell scream smellhim stophim.

You can play any of those by typing /lsound fear1 in the console.

You can also do /lsound (sound) text
This will display chat in the chat window while playing your sound.

Enjoy the new sounds and let me know! If you see Shrub in the server, and he sometimes is, give him a big thanks!

BTW, this is not required to play on the server. Just a neat little add-on.

The autodownload works now, so just go into the server and it will automatically download to your machine.

Important:

If you are not dowloading when you try to connect, and you would like to download the soundpack, you need to enable downloads on your computer.

How to enable downloads:

There is 2 ways to make your computer automaticly download the file, Both change the same setting.

1.) Under the Multiplayer setup menu, Click on Allow Downloads and make it say yes.

2.) Open the console and type cl_allowdownload 1

When you connect to the server it should download the file. It is 612Kb and take less than a min for most people.

The rimshot would be a great addition, but it may get abused. I've seen some odd sounds on some banimod servers like (wah!) (Gurp!) and (Cough!) but these get annoying as they are frequently abused by noisy asses. It's bad enough as it is with "The Enemy Is Weakened" and the like being repeated over and over. Sometimes when my sound goes I refrain from typing /s_stop just so I can get some peace and quiet. I'm glad these new sounds are mostly event triggered.

warren, youre probably right. i think it would get abused.
i really hate that guy fire in the hole because he loves to yell out his name at least 50x in a 20min round. what was that odd one i heard...some kind of scream i know i cant do...i only use them during the warmup anyways...things have got to be real slow for me to be going in the console. i use /s_stop as soon as the sound goes out. i dont want to be deaf! i dont think it makes any of my other senses better.
