IRC-channel
Hey guys, i opened an IRC-channel for us (only RtCW players). Join it:
#ecgn-rtcw

#ecgn-rtcw

Gamesurge? Damn I never heard of that server. I wanted to check out the channel, but I cant even find the server on the list. I used to use gamesnet for rtcw, enterthegame for quake, and now am sticking with etg for painkiller.
Also, I have the feeling that most people who play on ecg don't really use irc alot, so good luck on getting idlers =/ wo0t's permenant ops idea sounds solid, it'd make me check it out.

gamesnet is no more it is now http://www.gamesurge.net
and contrary to your thinking...there are lots of folks that use the #ecgn channel for irc...hope you have good luck with the RTCW channel.

I have not failed...I have just found 10,000 ways that don't work.

Yes, it is on GameSurge. The server is new, available in the new version of mIRC (6.14). If you have older version, you have to add the server manual. You can do it like that:
First you go to options:
Than you go to Connect ---> Servers and click to add:
Finaly you copy this from the screenshot:
Now you have GameSurge on your list.
GameSurge is on of the easiest servers. The commands are very easy. Nothing like /msg L chanserv #channel +ao. It's !addop nick.
Good idea woOt, i'll make the first 10 users to an operator.
Btw, maybe I explained it a little bit weird, but I'm a 15 years old German, so sorry for that. >_<

Man mIRC makes me feel like an idiot because I know a decent amount about computers and am usually able to catch onto how programs work pretty easilly, but I just don't understand mIRC. I've even read tutorials on how to do it and followed them step by step. Even still I can't do anything on it. I've done everything Abit has shown to do in his post, but now what? it says something about favorites but no ecgn place.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

Do you have ICQ or AIM? I could explain it there.

If you run Unix or Linux, there are a couple of command line irc programs available like ircII and BitchX. You can get these (amonog other places) at ftp.freebsd.org /pub/FreeBSD/ports/distfiles.
Enjoy.

Irc is not that difficult to use - I highly recommend downloading a script (NNScript is my fave) - Google NNScript and you will find it. You just unzip it into the same folder you installed mIRC and the next time you start mIRC it will auto-install and what not for you. It's got some really nice features and takes care a lot of the annoying things about vanilla IRC.
Also check out #utensils on Gamesurge. First 10 idlers there get ops!
