Starlight, the point of neutering the lutes is to reduce the air-strike spam and make the game more realistic in the sense that everyone gets to duke it out, mano -oh- mano, so to speak.

There isn't a lot of fun in the game when all you do is appear and have to run a gauntlet of 20 airstrikes. Little skill in throwing them, and all the skill in the world can't evade them (in the trenches amongst a pack of screaming dogs).

I'm one of the most famous for killing droves with airstrikes, so it's not like I'm a med or soldier that's pissed off at getting killed all the time. Sure there's a lot of fun in seeing 8 guys get pulverized--but inversely, it isn't much fun being one of those 8 guys.

The point about having at least a 1/4 bar is that lutes can hand out ammo where needed (and get a few points), and feed themselves a pack or 2 at the begining so they have fighting chance with the other classes. Meds start with 30/60 ammo, and a 140 health. Fighting a med as a lute is a very tough battle to win--especially as they have an extra mag at start. AND extra nades. AND they can heal themselves as they go.

If Beach 24/7 is too dull--play somewhere else. Personally, I much prefer the new changes. I just think they need to be tweaked a bit.

Well you haven't tried it! and if you did Im sure it would work out pretty well.

I like being a worthless lt and throwing airstrikes! What you guys did took the fun out of it because like I said earlier I never get to throw them anymore and yes go ahead call me a whiny little bitch but if you actually think Im gonna wait a minute and just stand there to load my airstirke each time your outta your mind!

So that method you guys are talking about practically eliminates airstrikes. Throwing airstrikes isn't all were doing here if you read my sentences. The 2nd half is just like the present game with no airstrikes. Well Im sure it would take a genius to make this work and I don't see it hapenning especially since were all so stuck on our ways.

Also who cares about ammo? give everyone endless ammo? That doesn't effect how you shoot....this game is dying neway just thought I would make a good suggestion!;)

Lowering the airstrike spam wasn't just about the annoyance, it was also about the server lag.

The server itself now uses 10-15% less CPU than it was before, and as you can see, its a lot smoother. Pings have halfed in some cases, which is wonderful.

Your idea Starlight, while good, is impossible. I will however look into setting a variable for the charge bar that LTs start with, right now its all or nothing.

How is this impossible? because it has nothing to do with the recharge bar? Well that maybe but I figured you guys would be able to figure this out.

All or nothing so dramatic! What kind of options are these?

damn it starlight you make it sound like you dont know how to play unless you have airstrikes. Is that so? can you only kill people with airstrikes?

Also, mmmgood meant that there is no option in the shrub mod as of yet that will change ammo recharge midway through a round. therefore your idea is just a dream/fantasy.

Hah Hah I know it sounds like that.

Im just expressing my outward opinion about this situation. Its true the game is just dead now, atleast on the beach. You guys are satisfied maybe but I'm not.

I don't care so much for unlimited ammo I was just making a point as I care about the main situation. Its kool though;) my idea is still better.

also my experience w/ punkbuster on is that it makes u lag a little bit more...well thats what happens to me atleast...

Lutes were neutered to reduce air-strike spam. (Hasn't that already been said several times?) It lags the srvr and makes for unenjoyable playing, for the majority.

However, as I've already stated, this current option of no energy is drastic; especially with the new 'fun' beach. If people live for more than 2 minutes, they are fighting with pistols, the next minute with their knives. Half the lutes only feed themselves, a quarter more are saving up for the big air-strike, and the lute that is left (on a rare occasion--I'm being portraying the most positive scenario) runs around trying to feed 4 or 5 guys ammo packs in the middle of fire-fights.

How can that be Keek when LTs spawn with a full bar?

We also turned down the Lt charge time to 45 seconds per Donny's recommendation ( one of our techs ) who was playing on there all day and was tweaking the settings.

At 45 seconds, you can throw ammo every 2.81 seconds, much faster than it was originally at, which was 15 seconds before we even touched it.

I think the settings are good now. No spamming airstrikes, (lagging the server) because you start with zero. Decent charge time so you can give out ammo and eventually throw a strike in a reasonable amount of time.

This seems a good balance to me... and I voted for getting pummeled and pummeling on the original beach map... :D
