Re: RTCW - The Harsh State Of Things
I made the thread to provide some fresh insight and maybe even help the game, not to sound bitter or convince any of you that so and so is hacking
.
I understand I haven’t sent or provided any demos or evidence before so some of you may think I have no grounds to say anything. Surely the responsibility of at least some of the administrators is to monitor cheats and accusations and deal with them, it’s not mine, and surely these people know about the methods you can use to help assist you.
I’m sorry but I believe even if I were to send in as much evidence as I could muster and thought would be sufficient, it would still be dismissed and quickly disregarded because it’s not PB verified and there’s no system in place. I’m not even sure it would get looked at, there’s nothing to suggest it would.
I agree there are some freakishly good players on RTCW, but they aren’t the ones who are so often accused on these forums and on the server.
Consider this with the theory that hackers would eventually stop because of boredom, im theorising ofcourse:
The reason these players who are accused so often follow the pattern of having an extreme disregard to every game-play element RTCW has to offer except frags & their kill/death ratio is because of the imbalance in competetion with opponants caused by potential hacks. Consequently the only competitive & enjoyable aspect of the game left for them is to better the ratio and increase their kill streaks. They enjoy the attention / admiration they receive because of it and the fact they get away with it.
I assume for someone to turn to hacking they would surely be a selfish player who can’t stand being second best, who is only out for their own enjoyment and don’t care about the effects their untalented, narrow minded approach has on other players, team mates, balance and the game.
Funny how the above two profiles have so much in common.
In new games such as Bad Company, you get players like the above all the time. They only care about frags and are so insanely good their ability greatly surpasses what is considered by players to be natural or even just damn good; it’s not long until they are banned by the hosts, without proof because the hosts know they are getting chumped.
RTCW isn’t like this, people are happy to bend over and take a shafting from these players because people honestly believe they are that good. They depend on PB too much and PB is so dated it can no longer prove otherwise. You’re worried about increasing server depletion by trying something new when more people than the hacks occupying the server have left for this very reason, it’s laughable.
RTCW reminds me of the state CSS found itself in, fantastic game, but regular hacks occupying servers and nothing to stop it happening.
I’m not saying the methodology I’ve suggested is the only way to go or that I’m 100% correct.
I am saying you have hacks playing regularly on the server and that the current anti-cheat system in place on the server is void which is why you will never catch them. And suggesting something can be done to possibly filter hacking out of the server without permanently banning these players. There are ex-hackers on the server no longer using them; this filter method can work given a chance.
Savage makes a good point about eventually banning average players and creating a skill cap. I honestly believe if you were to take a sensible approach this wouldn’t happen. I understand the line is not easy to draw but there are methods that can be adopted to make it clearer and easier to review and if you use these methods correctly and unbiased, you won’t be banning players who are simply very good.
Believe me when I say you would never get as many strange headshot screenshots like the ones I posted in such a short demo time span if you were to record a demo of me or any other decent honest player for that matter, reasons such as this and good, sensible, controlled administrating is why I do think a skill cap can be avoided.
I hoped the detailed approach to my posts would avoid the thread being written off and turning into a flame war so thanks all for your patience. I did after all in layman’s terms suggest you ban people without using PB.
Apologies to all of you for droning on, I no longer have the belief the thread will make a difference so it makes no sense to add more, and im repeating myself now
. Thanks for receiving the thread so well, BB

It doesn't need to be PB verified, just indisputably obvious. We've banned plenty of people just based on a demo. It would probably help to have a screenie of a pb_plist to prove it's not a spoofer but that's about it.
Re: RTCW - The Harsh State Of Things
Banning someone without proof or a specific reason other than to benefit the the whole server is not unreasonable. Keeping the health and overall well being of the server at its best should be the goal. People that poison or upset the balance of the server should be banned regardless of of proof.
At the end of the day banning 1 or 2 people for the benefit of the whole community should be acceptable. After all this isn't the justice system, it does not have to be fair, life is not fair. Do whats best for the server as a whole. In other words stop sticking up for twats. It is not the so called best players that make the server , it is the average schleps that are there every day having fun and not worrying about being uber elite.
To those good people you are spitting in there face by letting a few individuals stay.

Re: RTCW - The Harsh State Of Things
From where I stand there are as many high skill players As tree are hardcore malcontents. I don't see that the one does any more harm than the other. Most of the abuse I see being typed and the deliberate teamkilling I see is not done by the freakishly good players...
Bottom line is you woul never be happy. First we'd have to ban rem and Nigel then it would go down the list until there are no good players left. Once you set the precedent that crying about getting raged gets people banned then no-ones safe. How good is too good? What's the maximum kr you are allowed? If you are over your quota do you just have to stand still and die a few times to not get banned.
There has to be a standard and the standard is that there's no ban without tangible proof.

Re: RTCW - The Harsh State Of Things
Thankfully the standard is not up to you and you should not insinuate it is. There are only a few people that I think most people are referring to which would equate to roughly 5 bans which would increase the pleasure of the majority and could possibly result in several players coming back(myself not included).
Something to think about Donny are the people that you are allowing to stay worth the larger number you have lost?

Shouldn't you be banning someone for playing axis or some other trivial thing?

Re: RTCW - The Harsh State Of Things
Guess I hit a nerve, go back to what you do best being selfish . At one time you were likely a good admin but in the past year and a half you only care how people effect you and your game. Banning people for petty or stupid reasons that have annoyed you good game. As for playing maybe I do under a new alias and guid(see how long it takes you to figure it out).
Why do I still post here? Mainly for cheap entertainment value but also because there are a few good decent people in this community and they are getting shafted. It is called standing up for beliefs and values for no benefit to yourself, you should try it sometime.
