get BF first, and then BFV. They really are different games...I think that you will like BF (and for that matter, secret weapons and Road to Rome - expansion packs).

I suggest you buy Battlefield 1942 first, then go here and
download the latest patch (1.6)
http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/1942/us/gamedemo.jsp?state=010010

If you like it then you might consider Battlefield Vietnam
and some of the expansion packs.

I have both Battlefield 1942 and battlefield Vietnam but I got too much lag whne there are too many people online, I will have to wait till my connection is improved faster, though last time I played there were too many snipers that ruined the game IMO.

Amaryl, your system specs look very good, you should be
able to play with very high frame rates. Your connection
speed may be hard to fix, the game is some what
demanding on your broadband speed.
What is your rated connection speed now?

Dont have the game, and I dont have the money to buy it :(

Now we should get in the BF forums and invite them to play RtCW.

that is the main problem, I just have 256 kbps download/128 kbps upload and I am waiting to my current speed get increased twice next week by my ISP who is increasing twice speed by the same price but broadbands are too expensive here though

Amaryl, your rated connection will work ok if you are getting
the rated speed.
In some real time tests that i did this evening on 64 player
server my peak download was 20.5K, my peak upload
was 5.1K.

you may not be getting your rated speed and if so that
will cause lag.

Before I started playing Battlefield 1942 I was playing a lot of Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Mostly on Happy Penguin...ahh the memories) but when I downloaded the BF MP Demo and gave it a shot I couldn't really get back into RtCW again. Still have it on the hard drive, though I rarely play it...
