After reading these posts it seems to me there are four choices --

1. Accept it and try to have fun.
2. /uninstall - nobody wins here IMO
3. If you can't beat em, join em -- dl or ask for a config and see what's up
4. If you can't beat em, joint em -- apparently pot is the wheeties of gaming

number 4 actually made me laugh

Actually it turns out that "drawgun' is a menu option anyway. As for R_intensity2, I have to manually put that in everytime I first join the server. I play a lot in the daytime (well used to anyway) and the room my pc is in is too bright, I couldn't see anything outside on the beach map.

If you were to install wolf right now, the config that it gives in the main folder is what I've always used, any differences in values would be from selections in the options menus.
bobroll, bobpitch,etc... I am thinking that those would keep you or your gun stable?
I handle battles against most other configs fairly well. I still feel bad for any newcomers (not that there's many these days) that gotta face some of these configs but whatever.

Now for the more important point to me, did a config allow Glock to see me when I couldn't see him or did something else?
Judging from the way it went down I'm going with "something else". It was just way too obvious. If this is bs like I'm sure it was then that really sucks because to me the whole game becomes bs for everyone playing.
games are thrown off, stats are thrown off,etc...
But again whatever.
I'm going to record a lot of demos of a few players and submit them.

As for the choices, I'll go with # 1
#4 I've used since way before the creation of RTCW, it's the Wheaties of life for me.

*My internet speed doubled today, I'm interested to see if this makes a difference in any way.

I've said it before and I will say it again just as a reminder, never underestimate the sound quality. I prefire often in basement when coming around corners. I always watch where my teamates are, watch to see if their hp is decreasing and if they die who killed them. I get accused of wallhacking when it's simply good sound and/or smart play. Sometimes when I spec people I hear enemies near them that are unseen and the guy won't turn around or investigate the footsteps I'm hearing. The guy dies and I wonder if he couldn't hear what I did or he just isn't very experienced or what. I'm not saying people don't wallhack but if you spec me and don't hear what I hear you would be convinced I'm wallhacking.

right there is where a config would come into play... if you manually have to put that in and vid restart everytime u join, then make a config call it maybe warpig.cfg or somthing and in the command like for intensity type 2 then put the file in your main folder join the game /exec warpig.cfg and the consol and load it up then you wouldnt have to do it manually it would automatically be done for you.

the bob up and stuff doesnt make you stable, i dont think...
when your walking and running you would kind of bounce with them enabled.. like bob up n down or w.e.. and that makes it a little harder to aim when crouching shooting and moving all at once.. if you were to disable them then you wouldnt bob around and you would have a more clean shot at whoever your shooting because your not bobbing around

and for glock to see you... its the brightness of the game

r_intensity 4
r_mapoverbrightbits 4
r_overbrightbits 4
r_gamma 3

would make the game brighter i can see glock when i go against him from distances.. so if your using intensity 2 then your game is going to be darker than everyone elses and harder for you to see them...

I play with default config except for changing to "r_intensity 4". I agree with earlier statement about listening/sound being very important. You can get an edge is you listen closely and have good speaker setup.

Although playing with sound greatly decreases your chances of being raged, i get headaches from listening to the whistles and cries of war. So i listen to some muzak.

And as for glock shooting you before he saw you it could be a couple of things.

1) He hacks
2) Your/His timenudge is messed up so bad that it sucks
3) He heard you coming around the corner and prefired
4) He prefired and didn't hear you
5) He saw you before you saw him cuz of latency issues with the server
(I will post an article that fully explains what that means) As soon as i find it .

IMO it maybe have been the fifth reason because that happens to me alot, (when there are 15+ on each side) and its forcing me to turn on hitsound so i can confirm if my shots are straight or drunk.

Glitch those settings will burn my retina and iris. They don't have to be that high, they just have to match well with each other. ie. I noticed a r_intensity 3 and a mapoverbrightbits_2 is better than a r_mapoverbrightbits 3 (for seeing long distance on beach at least)

and yes the all that bobroll and pitch stuff prevents your from moving up and down. Allowing players to get two headshots immediately because they are focusing on one spot. Instead of becoming dizzy with the slight up and down everywhere you walk. So thats where the 3 hs kills comes from.

Come on seriously I changed the bobroll and bobpitch back when I was still playing with 5fps on a imac indigo blue with a sweet 500mhz processor. It must be mentioned on at least 10 threads here for starters plus on virtually every clan forum ever made.

If it was supposed to be a secret it's a worse kept one than Tom Cruise's lack of acting talent...

I appreciate the tips.
I thought I tried R_intensity 3 once and I got kicked for it being above the server limit. It must have been at a different server.

Savage, it's the first I've ever heard of "bob...." but I never tried to look for it either.
I'm sure if you asked a lot of players on the server, many of them wouldn't have a clue as to what it is.

I do agree with you on Tom Cruise,(except for "Born on the 4th of July" he was great).

also, if every setting was in the graphical menus there would be a dozen pages, and still lots of people would not know what they did unless they were told or decided to investigate them. the setting are there for users to customize the game the way the want, its the way pc gaming is and every pc gamer knows this. and the menus are not there to confine users to a predefined set options... it just contains the main options needed to get you going right off the bat. imagine how confusing it would be to install a game and have hundreds of setting you could adjust right away.

Maybe we should ban everyone that doesn't live the exact same distance away from the server that you do so everyone has the same ping as well.

Of course it's not fair, but it's never going to be. Even if the configs were all the same people would still have faster video cards and more expensive systems. Hell even the communists in china don't have the kind of uniformity you'd need to prevent that...

There's nothing stopping anyone looking things up to make their own condig finetuned so I can't see how it's unfair. Besides it only ever makes the slightest amout of difference. A good config can't make a bad player good...
My goodness, that part won the awards.

You can have my config if you want warpig, but it won't make you any less of a douche bag.

this is the link to the site i was talking about that would hopefully clarify certain peoples shooting. And maybe "hacker" will not be the first word that comes out of your mouth when its done.

P.S I think this is meant for Quake 3 issues, but both games are built on the same engine, (I think) so the rules still apply. :red:

LOL probably not since it hasn't had any effect on you.

I don't need you config Haco nor do I need any tweaks at all. See you on the server where I will repeatedly kill you and dance around you like your standing still.
I've been on a fucking tear since starting this topic, borderline un-fucking-stoppable in one-on-ones. Wish you were there regardless of your bullshit game or not.

That goes for anyone else who got some funny shit to say.
Go to the server and SHOW ME what a douchebag I am.
