If you've never been in the marines, don't even think about bashing it.

Daughter: But, Moooommmm, I don't like peas!!!!
Mom: Well, sweetie, have you ever had them?
Daughter: Noooo......
Mom: Exactly. Now stfu and eat them.

Learn.
I lived with a man for 18 yrs who had done 2 tours of Vietnam, so although I may not have been directly in the Marines I suffered a rough childhood because of a man who was. No bashing here, straight facts. Good luck to you.

LOL sorry Gamb.. spelling error, or Freudian slip?? I had to point it out because it made me laugh! (however, I must admit that the rest of the post killed the mood for me). But, everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's what makes democracy so great.

Huntress,

You describe yourself as a strong young procrastinator that needs some high intensity responsibility. You and every other 17-25 yr old! Girl, what you need isn't someone screaming at you and telling you what to do. What you need is to pick yourself up by the bootstraps and kick your own ass. I would break my child's arm & left leg before I let him go into the military during these times of war.

I really hope you can rethink this decision and not take the hello my name is marine Sgt. Lt. Corp. Sexy Bob, and we love/need/will make you a decent human being recruitment speech that is given to every other helpless teenager.

xoxo

im not gonna pretend to know you, but i know the age group quite well... what it seems like to me is you're simply confused. not being busy all the time and having the majority of your time thinking about stuff, you've made a decision to enlist based on that. Probably along the lines of going into the service for quite some time in order to 'get your mind on track,' or pay for college, or hopefully not 'just to do it.' The service is synonymous with any other career. Your main goal is to love what you do, just like any dream job. If you truly want to enlist in the military and have a complete understanding of what is happening and what your role would be in it then go ahead and join, best of luck with that. However, if you are simply confused and think that it's your only option, keep reading.

First of all, forget all the high school bullshit tests that tell you what you wanna be when you grow up. I was always supposed to be a construction worker, lawyer, or gardener... and my plan is something well different. You want to do something you love, in essence.

Don't believe that you need to go to college in order to be wealthy and live a happy life in the future. First of all college is expensive as shit, and I am not looking forward to paying off all the loans I am taking out. I do, however, intend to pay off the loans in a reasonable amount of time, and it won't bother me because I would be doing something that I'm interested in. College isn't for everyone, and dropout statistics could show you that first hand. Mostly it's either failing classes, or monetary issues that people drop out. If you're not good at school, or simply hate it, don't over stress yourself with college. You can get a job and work your way up, the old fashioned way and probably have more money on hand in your 'fun years' than most college grads would.

Finally, if you do believe you can withstand higher education, go for it. The benefits are good, as long as you are willing to compete. In this society where kids are pushed to go to college and get a good degree; people are doing just that, and finding a job out of college is becoming a competition all in its own. The whole collegiate process is a competition as well. You have to compete with your fellow students in order to get that wanted 4.0 GPA and then when you graduate you have to compete once again with all the other college's students' 4.0 GPAs. College is a huge competition in these aspects, and can be for the supreme student, extremely rewarding.

Do what you truly believe in. If you can't decide right now what you want to do, don't make a decision that could ultimately be your last. If you have made it this far, take some time and seriously think about whether or not you truly want to join the military.

Why is everyone preaching to me?

I'm a smart girl. I make choices in my life and I don't appreciate people thinking I'm an immature girl. I know what I'm getting myself into.

All I was looking for were maybe a few congratulations, good lucks, and break a leg's.

It doesn't need to be this thought out.

I mean surely you must have their email address if you are to be considered a close friend. God you are a nerd. And I love how you try to be elegant in your posts but still don't know the difference between there, their, and they're. You can afford community college can't you?

I'm done instigating.

Alex proving the point that you are a douchebag, who actually cares about spelling or punctuation on a forum lmao . Go back to proof reading comic books clown , or bragging about some make believe job you have.

As for the instigating I assume that comes from a need to camouflage your own shortcomings.
