Re: apologies
Running the server and keeping it up involves some work. Signing on and changing maps or kicking tk's and mouthpieces not so much. Let's be honest here. Not that I don't love you all.

Spurrier is Here.

HuGgY BiZzLe wrote:I don't have admin powers anymore and I still play, so that invalidates your theory. No work involved? You're insane. Admin a server for 7 years or so and then we'll talk. You have no clue how much time is involved in tracking banned players that generate new GUIDs and IPs at will. As the server list got smaller, it got even more difficult because there were only a few servers contributing to the MBL. My ban list from hacks not caught on the MBL was almost the size of the MBL itself.
Last but not least, dealing with constant complainers who contribute nothing causes an admin to burn out pretty fast.
You were an admin on this server? I don't recall ever hearing about you until a couple months ago. Maybe you did this stuff on your server but I can tell you right now, the admins on this server do not actively track banned players like you seem to think. There is even an admin on here that was on the MBL.
They come on and kick some players, shuffle, and do some map changes. If there is a complaint about a particular player or they are getting their asses kicked by someone, then they may go and check it out. If they get their admin powers revoked here, they go and sulk and don't play anymore.
Sorry man. It's not as hard as you are making it out to be.

I'll post my ban list once I get my internet fixed at the house.
Re: apologies
Aphid, I don't want to get in a pissing match with you and I'm not trying to be a dick but your statement about admins are wrong, atleast in my case. I'm an atari baby, I've been around a long time and watched the progression of games and systems over the years. When I got my first pc I got wolf along with it. I was blown away by both the multiplayer capability of the pc and the game of wolf. To me, the most important thing is the game. It's not everyday a game like wolf comes along. One that has given me so much enjoyment over the years and one in which I've made so many friends in and outside the game. Granted I have not played much since last September due to the fact I'm playing another game with old friends, an oppertunity I couldn't pass up. When I left for this game I posted in the admin section I was taking a break and that I was telling no one in game because as I put it, if even one person wanted to check out the game I was playing and I pulled them away from wolf, that would be one less person here when I came back. As for taking admin "out of the kindness of my heart", I did. I could post my application for admin and you all can see my reasons for asking for it. It's all about the game and it's longevity for me. It will be a sad day for me when the last server calls it quits.
I've was admin for over two years and people still didn't realize I was admin. I have always been proud of that. I've muted maybe 2 people in my admin career and only kicked people (or temp banned) when I felt it was necessary. As far as the "admins don't work" I disagree. I would love to just log in and play the best game I've ever known but at some point the latenights were getting so bad people were leaving the game. I decided I had to do something if I wanted the game to be around and people to be able to have fun. As admin you would be surprised at how many times you have to stop playing and deal with something and/or have a convo with someone.
By no means am I taking up for all admins, but I know why I asked for it and I'm betting you would be hard pressed to find many people out there that would say I did them wrong on the server. If they even know I'm admin and have been for years now.
An admin should, IMO, be seen and not heard.I fully intend on coming back in full force someday and I hope all of you, and the server are still there to greet me.
Sry about spelling and whatever else I messed up, posting from my phone at work and in a hurry

That's fine. Your name never really crossed my mind and that is how it should be. I can't really think of anything you've done wrong in the times I have seen you. If everything you said was true, the post was not in reference to you.
What I said applies to the vast majority. It's not a hard rule that applies across the board though. There is always going to be exceptions to everything.
Re: apologies
Granted I mainly would play latenights and early mornings, but have you all ever come across an enemy just standing there, you rape him, and they never shoot back? Nine times out of ten it's an admin that had to stop to take care of something. I would see this often, and i know they would rather be playing than getting raped while standing still. You can't be a stat whore as admin

Re: apologies
True aphid, I can only defend myself. I just never did like the "all admins suck" comments. Short of cateye on the latenights and superpuzzy in the mornings I didn't get to play regularly with other admins. I never did see much "wrong doings" from either of them two though when I played with them. So I'll defend them to the point of only when I played with them but I have to imagine that showed how they always would admin the server.

Re: apologies
I couldn't agree more Macab... Being an admin isn't about throwing around power it's for me it's about...(OH GOD I'M GOING TO QUOTE FOX NEWS) forgive me, being fair and balanced. I'm not quick to beat someone with my banstick, I'm not quick to kick someone just because I get a PM.. so n so just tked me.. so n so just bled me. I think you boys just need to be schooled on politeness. It's a much better game when we show love to each other. And the best way to love each other on the server you ask? MP40 right between the eyes bitches!
There's only one crime in nature which is stupidity, and the punishment is death.

this person here has something against me. thx for the ban last night
Re: apologies
The ban came from me. Enjoy. Sick of your mouth running like you own the server. Who gives a shit if Wohin is on the hill, who gives a flying fak if Maria rejoined. Who cares what anyone else is doing. You don't pay for the server and you sure the hell didn't buy their game. So STFU already! People are sick and damn tired of your comments. Don't try and tell me how to admin. I will make the decisions, not you. There is no rule for rejoining!! I have never kicked someone for rejoining. What they get an extra life or two? Whoopdi faking do. Damn.caffeine wrote:this person here has something against me. thx for the ban last night

Re: apologies
so rejoining and staying on allies are ok (despite both being against server policy). however if i say anything about these rules being broken = ban

There's no actual rules. It's up to the admin to decide if what people are doing is going to fuck up the flow of the game and staying on allies and rejoining can both be completely harmless.
Harassing an admin is never a good career choice though...
