The S.S. has four servers, one of which is a private, competition server. We have a 20-player, a 32-player and a 40-player Public ET Servers. I'm a senior level Admin on all of them and the tard-to-decent player ratio always seems a bit lop-sided, but it's not "un-handleable". There I can admin with impunity. On ECGN it's not my server so I'm a little more forgiving (although not MUCH more forgiving).

I find the most difficult part of being an admin is when OTHER people tell you what you're doing is wrong. In that situation, you have to argue with people who otherwise wouldn't open their mouths. Some people have a hard time dealing with authority, especially if they don't know the Admin or the Admin happened to kick their friend.

That aside, it's gotten to the point now where I won't play anywhere unless I'm an Admin or at least know the Admins. People are inherently stupid and obnoxious, and only good upbringing or common sense (or a liberal dosage of both) seem to prevent people's inner beasts from surfacing at every opportunity.

You know what is really funny??? and what I don't understand??....... all these people who complain and whine or want this and that and think if certain things are changed it would be better or it will get rid of the so called"NOOBS'......... or changing things to make it more challenging........... are the same people who are on the server everyday , night and day and they continue you to come back and play on the server....... why come back and play if you want limits or you dont like certain things?? why not go somewhere else??, or better yet buy your own server and adjust how you want it and see if it can be as popular as the 24/7 beach server??

in my opinon, boc asked a simple question yes or no, and seems everyone is takin things to heart. please guys its a game. i know tempers flare and people loose their cool sometimes as do i. but it seems a little out of control. all this isnt helping anyone. hard to see all my friends beating up on each other. i see alot of opinons that i agree with and some i dont. but in the end we are a community of gamers that want to have fun and play the games. its impossible to please everyone, believe me ive tried:freak:

Given the amount of times I've spent monitering the allied forward spawn to slap, launch, fling, throw, shake, kick, tempban and ban faust users probably makes me a world expert on their particular brand of blocking.

So yeah, keeping the game-flow smooth for the majority to enjoy does mean I'm personally involved. I don't think anyone who's seen me sit for long stretches in the bunker just to ensure noobs don't ruin the game for everyone could accuse me of being motivated by selfish reasons.

Actually--that isn't true. I don't WANT to sit in that bunker changing diapers. I'd rather play the game. So, maybe it is personal of me. I feel all dirty now. o_0

First of all, sorry for my reaction 'à chaud' in French. I must admit (without difficulties) that you're right about ALL THIS...
The more I read you, the more I like you, you seem to be a wise person acting for the good and the imago of this server.
Thanks to you (and all other admins) for your work and patience on the beach and in the forum...

To answer Stephanie's criticis: we come back here because they way you all admins made this server is GREAT. We only try to help you finding a balance by giving ideas, reacting to changes...
See ya in the beach

If it's possible to use a VISIBLE banner saying: "DONT BLOCK OTHERWISE WE'LL KICK YOUR ASS AS DADDY DID" :)

PS: personnally, mine did not enough if I considere my rude side...

bye, enjoy the good work done here

 I just imagined a sign hanging over the front bunker door saying "Do Not Block Or You Will Be Slapped And Kicked Around Until You Are Black And Blue"

hey guys sorry for anything i have said to offend any of you. i come back and play on the beach because i know everyone, and most people are my friends, and i would like to keep it that way. i always say not to get mad over a stupid game but its hard not to when your a part of the game and want to get your say in. so sorry if i have made anyone mad or said anything to offend anyone. i try not to get mad because i usally say dumb things or things to get on someones case. i will try and keep my cool. and saying that i dont care what limits or what changes are made to the beach i will probably still come to it.

I'm serious when i say this so it's not a bash, just a suggestion...KillerMike, why don'y you let Keek play with your clan a couple scrims to see if he likes it, Keek ,from what I hear you are a good player so if KM let's you play you should try it,No Noobs, organized, excellent competition,it seems to me that you would really enjoy it...I didn't read all the posts in this thread cause it seemed to me it was the same thing everyone bitches about anyway but I did see something Keek posted about hiding behind clan tags, the reason I enjoy being in the S.S. is cause I enjoy talking and laughing with all those guys and girls,I consider them all my good friends and I have never met any of them, until Nov. 9th when a few are traveling this way to see TB play Carolina, but a big reason I enjoy this clan is playing in TWL matches, I get bored playing on the big public servers sometimes,Idiots running around not knowing what to do can piss me off, which it shouldn't,it's supposed to be for fun,if I want to use a panzer, flamer or sticky bomb(which would be kinda cool),it's my choice,it's a public server, not a serious competition server,so what i'm saying is ,if you want to be serious about your game play and not have to worry about being accidently TKed by Smacktards, try the competition side once....let him try a scrim with you KM, see if he likes it...just a suggestion:)

Do you really not understand why people talk about things they do not like about the sever but continue to play there?

Wed Oct 15, 2003 9:06 pm

Yes I do not understand, if they don't like it them let them spend there own freakin money and get there own server

Problem solved for all the whinners

Wed Oct 15, 2003 10:05 pm

Stephanie...you seem to think that the Beach has to stay in some frozen time-warp because ..well, I don't know why. You also seem to think you speak for the majorit. Because..well, I assume because you're part of a clan that wants a certain thing.

Many things on the Beach have changed. Airstrikes. Med recharge time. Lt recharge time. A whole WACK of Shrub-mod influences.

I wonder what ecgn would be like without Shrub? Without guys like him who thought--this is a great game, but it needs some improvements. I wonder what ANYthing would be like if we all took the mind-set that things should never be changed.

Growing up is hard. Maturing is tough. Beach needs to change as the people who play there change. But the limit is back up to 3, again. Uber blockers.

Whiners are people who want changes for their own selfish interests. I'd hardly call myself a whiner because I challange a mind-set that is so entrenched. Changes need to be made in order to make the game a lot more fun FOR THE MAJORITY. Get used to it and stop whining about it.

I think over the next couple weeks there will be a few more changes to the server I bet just to get it just right for right now. It will change in the future too, it will always change, thats what things do.

As for the poll I dont think 17 vs 8 is fair there needs to be a bigger margin of people who want this. Plus there are like 4 who dont care. So its basically 50% vs 50%.

Wed Oct 15, 2003 10:16 pm

And by the way, I approached Boc for the changes to the faust limit exactly because it's a public server--designed to entice people into enjoying the game, and hopefully moving on desiring to rent their own space.

The game was becoming very un-enjoyable with all the faust-jocks raining death upon everyone. There were a LOT of complaints about it. How many people stopped playing at the Beach--and left with a bad taste in their mouth for ecgn because a server of theirs was set up to rape noobs?

I don't give a dam about some elite group wanting to keep the Beach the way it was so they can OCCASIONALLY drop in and beat the shit out of noobs. I'm desiring a change motivated by the populace that will promote a fun play environment. That's good business for ECGN.

I propose a challange. How about we set the faust limit to 4 and all the admins not kick any faust door-blockers for 2 weeks. Not only will you see the numbers go down at the beach, but you'll also get a massive amount of people bitching about it.

Currently the admins are doing a fabulous job at keeping the faust-blockers down. I was accused a few weeks ago of making too many admins. I made them because we have so many blockers. A lot of those admins approached me precisely because there are so many blockers and there arn't enough admins around to handle it. Probably 90% of door blockers are faust users. Anyone can do the math. It isn't hard.

It's precisely because the admins keep so much on top of the blockers that everyone doesn't care about the faust problem. That's largely why the faust-limit thread was so stuffed with faust-loving raging wanks that trashed the idea.

So...I'll refrain from kicking or dealing with faust blockers for a few weeks. Other admins can do as they wish. Lets see how the faust-blocking dilema affects the populace--and then hear their voice--not the voice of some tiny elitist minority.

Keek.

Wed Oct 15, 2003 10:27 pm

I used to enjoy grabbing a faust and having scads of useless Allied Noobs to hurl my shells at.

Can you say 9-man kill??

Jawohl!!!

And, Keek. Quit trying to equate door blockers with fausts. People block that door holding nothing more than a pistol. If you can't hack dealing with the odd door blocker, then play on a FF on server.

But, oh, I forgot...I remember this is going to be a haven for the Elite Headshot Gods....the guys who run off and have their own little 1-on-1s while the game rages around them.
