Very cool Raven.... I guess you must like the new movie The Last Samuri. Which, by the by, is an excellant movie. So good, in fact, that even the classic-cheese of Tom Cruise couldn't ruin the overall affect.
I've only ever practised a bit with the bokkan. Like anything, to become a master would take 15 years or so.... So, keep up the practice

The 'rapier' as in the classic 'muskateer' era (1645-1710) was used primarily as a jabbing weapon...not a slicing one. The finesse was to deliver a blow with the tip, not the side of the blade. Thus 'Zorro' and his marking of the 'Z' on victims. This comes from the practice of skilled swordsman of that day to leave their distinctive mark on an opponents face, preferably, or body, more typically. Not uncommonly things just degenerated into brawls.
Getting one razor sharp eh? Always good to have a sharp blade around the house for the stubborn over-cooked roasts. Deli-style meats are a bitch to carve with a dull blade.

Keek.

Completely off topic to that of pictures, but I'd like to say I think this last while will go down in movie-making history as one of the best. The Lord of the Rings were superb....far beyond the call of duty imho. The Harry Potter movies.... Shrek, Monsters Inc.... quite a few really enjoyable movies.

Well, I wish I was Kenshin........... Himura the Battousai. It would rock to have skills like those, I am working on a sword collection. I want many, but am starting with Katanas/Samurai Swords. Not all Japanese were samurai. Once I get a job, I am working on a large collection........ all types, Katanas, Civil War Sabres, and any other I can get. A sword like kenshins, a reverse blade sword exists, $350.00. I will have one, sometime. Haven't seen Last Sanurai yet, as of late, cash has been low, business is slow. I will keep working on my skills as a swordsman, hopefully someday I will be good with them. The reason for the picture....... can you guess I'm a huge Kenshin fan
(actually just an anime freak:P )

When I was younger (and a bit less sane?) my friend and I stole his sister's furby, set it on fire and smashed it to bits with golf clubs.
Come to think of it, that was pretty fun.
