invallid cd key

Postby Santa Klaus » Sat Sep 04, 2004 7:36 am

God this is driving me nuts. Every now and then wolf will drop the last to digits in my cd key in the configuration.

Today even when I re-enter the full key, i still get the message at login that says invalid_Cd_key. So either someone has stolen my key from a keygen, or the connection is not getting pooled back on the server. :(

I have never shared my cd-key, so I don't know what else it could be. Any known issues, please let me know.

I always get that, I hate it too!

I have no idea why this problem keeps resurfacing. I'm thinking it must be a bug or the fact that the game is like 4 years old. Sometimes I can't play on any other servers because of invalid cd key.

disconnecting/connecting to different servers to quickly has this effect, apparently when leaving a server your Key takes a few mins to flush from the system, give it 3-5 mins before joining another game and you will not have the prob again

Yes, you'll notice that if you try to connect to the server you just left, it will allow you to connect. Restarting Wolf and waiting a few minutes usually fixes the problem.

Yes, that is the trick, restart rtcw, and wait 5 mins.

We have 2 games since my son likes to play but we must have the same CD key on both machines. I keep meaning to change it since each time my son plays on ECG he kicks me out.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, this is really irritating. The biggest thing I've noticed is that I used to have just regular RTCW installed and was using a friend of mine's CD-KEY to determine if I wanted to buy a copy. Well, I bought RTCW Platinum edition and the thing I notice between the versions are one addition keyspace that is just two additional digits.

It seems like it tries to revert back to the old CD-KEY and drops my last two digits of the new expanded CD-KEY. It keeps the new cdkey up until that last keyspace. :(

It's a real hit or miss..and 99% of the time when this happens, I lose my keybindings as well. Maybe I'll write to Activision and see if they can give me a patch or something. (Wishful thinking)

Thanks again gang. :)

Santa Klaus.

It deletes the last two digits on everyone, its not reverting anything.
