RTCW - Thoughts ? Opinions?

Postby CodeRed68 » Wed Nov 03, 2004 2:50 pm

Hey All,
I was just hoping some of you can give me your opinion of this game. I would mostly use it for multiplayer. How does it compare to BF42? It is worth getting?
Also, I realize the game came out a couple years ago? Am I better off just waiting for the next sequel to come out? Is that any time soon?
Thanks for any info.

It is way better than BF42. I hope you make the right choice... :)

basically take away the vehicles and the frigging huge boring maps from BF1942 and you get RTCW MP. RTCW is much more twitchy than BF also.

Just wait for Rtcw2 (2006).
RtcW is best multiplayer game ever. BF1942 is probably nice as well, but I don't like to drive jeeps, and fly airplanes and stuff. If you like games where you have to use hand-eye-coördination this is definately a MUST. Had lots of fun, made lots of friends with rtcw (had a great time on ECG, but had to move on to a higher level), and you can spend hours playing this game, without realising what time it is.
I advice you not to buy/play RtcW now, though. RtcW is pretty much dead, and most people moved on to Call of Duty (looks like Counter Strike), ET (sub-sequel of RtcW), and in the near future Halflife 2 and Halo 2.
But if you want to give the game a try, I'm not the one holding you ;)

I hope I helped you a bit :)

I picked it up about a few weeks ago after a 2 year (BF42) umm retirement. I still have fun and Tks are sooo much easier to get away with. Haha. Seriously, it is fun but not the same experience as BF42. Its kind of like the diffference between tennis (BF42) and ping pong (RTCW).

I do find that I get more chicks when playing BF42.

Dont wait for RtCW2. If you want to buy RtCW, it's not very expensive...

Find a friend that has it, and ask him if he plays multiplayer, chances are he doesn't because there are only about 250 people that still play it regualry in the States, and you don't need the disc in the CD drive to play it, so he might give you a CD key to. RTCW competition is pretty much %100 ruined because tons of people hack, and the admins really dont care in CAL, and with only 1 division teams that totally suck are playing teams that hack or are extremely good. Not to mention every OSP server is dm_base and you can expect to be corner camped everywhere. If none of your friends have it, download ET and try that out, its not as good as wolf for sure, and has a lot more noobs, but at least hacking and bitching aren't really a problem with it. If you dont like ET go out and buy Call of Duty, which has the best Single Player i have ever played, and also a very competitive multiplayer.

Thanks for all the info guys... How much is the game going for now? Are there any monthly fees for online play or is it free like BF42?
I saw that the game got really good reviews, especially for multiplayer on GameSpot. They gave it a 9.2 and they are pretty picky with handing out good scores. :)

RTCW= fast paced action fun!!!!

As soon as your competitive streaks kick in, you will see why we are hooked.:)

I hope you are planning on using a decent mouse though. If you want a recommendation let me know. Other than that you should be fine:)

Actually I use a small trackball mouse. Where just my index finger moves the ball around. This seems to work great for me.
Thanks, though.!
