I recently came back on after being away for awhile. While it was fun to play, it got boring pretty quick getting torn to shreds on every duel. Also still plenty of noobs on the server blocking doors and ladders. Pretty amazing there are still noobs for a 7 year old game. Anyone know of anything to check in the configs for when your getting raped in duels before even being able to get a shot off? Maybe everyone got better computers for Xmas?

I know what you mean.... I have been playing on and off for about 5 years and I still die in every duel, or after a few seconds from spawn on allies. I just don't have fast enough reflexes. And it does get frustrating too! What class do you play? I play medic most of the time as I can self-heal when I get into trouble and also even though I am pretty useless at combat I can still contribute to my team in other ways.

If you are not confident about being in the front line, try hanging back a little and picking off your enemies in the crossfire.
Stay close to your team-mates and don't go wandering off alone.

You could try experimenting with the different classes, (or weapons) you might find one is more suited to your style of play......

I know many people wonder the same thing and instead of crying hax every time you die like most people, you actually took the time to write an intelligible post on a forum so I'll try my best to explain my point of view on why their is a skill gap between some players who have played for rougly the same period.

Some people who still play have played with and against some of the very best rtcw players in the world back when the game was more popular and played A LOT during the 2 years or so wolf was still "hot". I am one of these players who were really never good enough to be on the best teams but good enough to play in the same league as them and get my ass handed to me when I did. It is only by getting your ass kicked over and over again and pushing yourself to a level where you can at least compete with better players than you that you can improve your game.

It is by getting you ego bruised again and again by gettin pwned that you find the will to work on your game. Some people who still play today would litterally cry if they played on some old osp servers like Locked Box or Hell's Gate. Sure, there was some hackers but most were just that good. A lot of the good players who play on ecgn are the former regulars of those 2 servers that fought night after night against Warrior, Remedy and all those other players that were just better than the rest. It is by fighting them and winning that extra fraction of a second to get your headshot off first that you got better, not by shanking Mr Dogday venoming the axis spwn window.

My final words for all the whiners out there : Being bad at this game does not make you a lesser person but whining about it instead of trying to improve does.

Yeah You can practice all you want but some people are always gonna be better. Some have natural talent, faster reactions, better peripheral vision, hand eye coordination or whatever.

It counts for a lot in a game like wolf where the bullets fly pretty much where you aim. In most games they come out with now the bullets scatter a lot more which makes it harder for the naturally gifted to completely punk the average Joe's.

In wolf there is almost no limit to how accurate you can be if you are coordinated enough.

Well he wasn't really asking a question. He doesn't agree with what I said in my post so instead of formulating an intelligent rebuttal, he just did what kids do in this situation (you're gay! , you have a small penis! , you cheat!) in a pathetic effort to affect my (internet) credibility

There have never been anyone with my name, IP, or guid that have been kicked or banned for a hack since the game came out. He's probably some kid I killed 3 years ago and is still bitter about it

i've been forced lately to not play so much due to a mix of terrible internet connection and vista. Those few times i actually get to play, i'm pretty horrible myself. But i know once i have a new computer and net connection (probably some time in march) i'll be doing a lot better after a couple of weeks. just takes time and patience. of course i still /quit when i get pissed...no point in playing if i'm not having fun, but i never complain.
