Your thoughts about the server and its new changes.
Hey guys, well its been a while now since the server has undergone some modifications. Before I start, Im not starting this thread to bash or in any way disrespect MMGood and this fantastic, free of charge server. I thought since it has been a couple of months that all of us could summarize what we like and what we don't like. I want this thread to be constructive and well thought out by everyone. I also wish to state, that let there be no illusion, this server is under a well run dictatorship. MMgood decides what is the future direction , he pays the $300.00 monthly and thanking him with constructive critism would be the least we could do. Lets talk about what we can do to re-vialize the server and really make it the best it can be.
1) My impression is the server definately seems to have a change in atsmosphere. I remember the hady days of S.S and many other clans prancing about. Now it seems there are some but very infrequent and definatley never in force. So why did we lose most of our participants?, what didnt they like about beach and what can we do to bring in more?.
2) Wolf was never meant to be played at 64 people , and a whole host of developers/Mod Gods have come up with innovative ways to even out the playing field and keep the game involving. I have to admidt I love the new spy mod however the age old argument of airstrikes I think needs to be revisited . I know we have been threw this a million times, but this is what I have found to be the case lately. When changing game parameters your always going to be tweaking and going back and forth. Thats what makes a good game, constantly finding that perfect medium. So we have no Airstrikes en masse anymore. So I have been seeing battles start to propagate at the ladder tier and stairs part of the complex. I love the lead fest dont get me wrong, but I do think the axis do hold a marginal advantage in this case. We have seen less and less action in the bowels of the complex, which is the way I always liked it. Now it seems the stairs and ladder are the new battle lines. In my opinion I like the server with limited airstrikes, however there has go to be a way to increase the advantage to the allies to compensate for the divide. Maybe adding additional panzers for allied force ?, Allowing more airstrikes by the allies?. I think if we can get more of the action to get downstairs the better the server will be.
Ok thats a taste of what I have been thinking , I really want to hear from everyone on this subject. All you regulars, this is the least we can do for MMgood. He has made changes and maybe a little feedback ( Constructive ) is the very least we can do.

Well back to the old air strike stuff, I liked the true gruesome horror of splattered bodies and gibs from the old setting, but in light of the change I find the frames per second are better and the feel of the game play is better. The spy feature is a definite thumbs up, its change from the same ole beach and is also fun, and more of a challenge to a certain point. We need change to keep the game more interesting. But in some aspects too much change is a bad thing, but overall I like what the server has become, and looking forward to what other thing s are in store for us in the future

I gave my thoughts in the airstrike thread earlier, but since they are probably buried, here's a repeat.
I liked the Fun Beach that was running for a while better than old beach. I have just as many lag and technical problems with each one. Lag and jumpiness when the server is full, regardless of the amount of airstrikes, and not much lag at all when there is about 30-45 people on.
The best was when they had zero bar with fast recharge (about 30-45 sec airstrike charge time, I think) with lots of ammo per bar. I could give out lots of ammo and still throw a strike every now and again.
The current situation is OK but it seems when it's time to play allies, a lot of players switch back to axis, making it very difficult to have a decent team on allies. This makes it next to impossible to even make it to the top of the back stairs, which is no fun at all IMO.
This is where airstrikes come in. Airstrikes are the great equalizer. When the allies are bogged down, they can clear the ladder area/top of stairs with an airstrike. While I'm not advocating going back to airstrike hell for technical reasons such as server lag, I think the charge time should be increased some. The two minutes (or so) it is set at now is too long IMO.
As far as not having as many people from clans being here anymore, I think it is because that people don't like being restricted. As an example, the other big server out there is Happy Penguin Depot. There are ALWAYS 50-64 players on that server. ECGN beach used to be this way, but now, late nights (eastern time) there are maybe 15 people on. It wasn't like this when I first started playing the 24/7beach. The difference between the two servers? The map, obviously, and the lack of neutered LTs.
I believe that the neutered LTs is one of the big reasons for the disparity betweeen then and now.
To sum it up, I think the game is more fun when you have more airstrikes.
(That and ET is out now and I see quite a few of the old regulars on those servers. BigJollyNazi and ASB Animalmother to name a couple

I like the idea of making the Allies bar charge faster... although I don't think we could use more panzers (not being mean or anything). It's almost impossible to get up the ladder from the trenches. Then again, I haven't played in 2 weeks (damn buy.com/UPS shipping) so idk if it's changed since then...

, I think the charge bar shouldn´t have to be changed, airstrikes all the time made the server unplayable, because lts just thew the airstrikes and you could be luky if you could get your ass in 1 piece to the backstairs, now the match is more interesting, all the matches I have played makes an awesome battle on the upper platfom with allies climbing up the stairs and aixs repelling their attacks so, and the same happen on the lower stairs when someone stands on the upper side of stairs and shoots every allie he see approaching him up, I think therefore the change bar it is something to be left as it so far.

The first question is simply easy to answer, people who play this server all every day for the last eight months can easily get tired of playing the same map, and even the same game.
for example when playing the game for 2 hours each day I play , I really get tired and I have to disconnect and play on SP or play another game on the net.
Map rotation would be nice, as playing 5 or 6 matchs and change to another map.

They had map rotation for a while but all of the complainers came out and it went out the window. Tool was the chief instigator for that vote. Not flaming Tool, he has a right to his opinion, just stating a fact.

To me, the map is not as important as the size of the server, the rules of the server and the people you play with. Granted, some maps suck ass, but I didn't think fun beach fell into that category. And airstrip had some really cool battles on the AA gun platforms.
After seeing all of the assclowns on the majority of the other servers out there, ECGN's community is a breath of fresh air by comparison. (They need an ET server, hint, hint

Just want to give my hown opinion on those modifications.
For long, the ECGN was one of the rare server offering a 64 players server featuring the beach map all the time. Few month ago it was full most of the time.
A few abuse where comming over an over.
Spawn killers issue was delt very neetly (5 sec invincibility is a very good solution).
There was alot of talk about the air strike abuse. I think the few modifications that have been made helped, but there could be more (I like the idea that allies lieutenant bar could have a faster rate, since they are the attacking team on the beach, they have a lot more chances to die faster. It would give them the chance to give a few more ammo pack or even call an air strike)
At the start, I was very happy about the map rotation, but quickly I realised a big probleme. With the change of map, the server lost a lot of players. Even if ECGN is back to the beach, there is still less players then before.
I also think that server that change map after a few round lose a lot of players. I dont like spending more time loading maps then actualy playing, and I dont think I am the only one.
Finaly, I love the new spy ability, more fun in wr !!!!!

ok here's my 2 cents
ok here's my 2 cents.....first AsB has there own server with alot of regulars playing out there now...the point was meet, in join each other's play and move on to bigger and better things.....so we have our own server now......with 30 members now and counting ....but I really didn't like the air strike changes I loved the havoc of the game...i loved sprinting from the bunker to the stairs, I loved fighting my way up to the next part i loved all the havoc that the air strikes brought......then the change, all it seems to be now is camp at all doorways in force and shoot whoever passes, which is fine but I loved the air strikes to keep everyone's head up.......I miss that bad......but mmmgood thanks for the great server that never crashes and the great customer service you guys gives....its worth every penny......I play every once in a while (on old/new beach)....but its weird not seeing the old regs anymore.....but we have found alot of the old people on ours.....but thats cool....misss the air strikes bad....if they could come back things would be different I know they would...ps forget to mention I love the control I have over the server......different maps ect. but everyone's fav. is still beach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! spy feature is a nice touch tho....that rulez

I´m sure you don´t want the airstrike hell back, and I know that the server is almost dying in airstrikes ( I haven´t died by an airstrike so far) but if I have the choose one of thoses possibilities I prefer the new one with almost no airstrikes.
I agree with you an osprey that the battle is more interesting in the bunker bowels, sometimes the battle is as you said but in the upper bunker and sometimes inside, hte fact is that with total airstrikes all the time you were lucky if you could get to the upper bunker platform in the past.
The answer is that if the airstrikes has to be changed again somthing not to be is the empty charge bar when respawning, that prevents from the immediate airstrike all people would throw when respawning
