noobs overrun!

Postby [U.S.C] Amaryl » Wed Jun 11, 2003 5:05 am

i´m annoyed of the server last night because in the match the allie team was unbalanced cos of the high number of noobs on the team, most of the time this doesn´t care for me bit last night because of this one using panzers all the time in a server with a limited number of panzers allowed when trying to get the upper platform I was ambushed with even 8 axis. with no support and no team play I had to stand back reviving teammates and forget getting the docs
I suggest that if it is the first time for playing DON´T select the panzer and don´t stand firing yourself or against a nearby wall ( both methods means your death anyways) wasting time and resources when heavy fire is required on more importants places.
I suggest important lessons to newbabies to make them get this points:
- Panzers are just required an war room, upper platform, and lower platform
- DON´T block the doorways.
- learn how to use your HUD INFO, TO LOCATE members to revive.

Yesterday after playing RTCW, I almost committed ( real) suicide, cause I had enough of all those n00bs.
1. When you finally reached the forward bunker, you had to deal with about 2 panzers. ( and doorblockers)
2. When you servived that, and went to the stairs, you had again 1 panzer and 2 venoms -sigh- ( and trenchesblockers)
3. If you went to upperbase, you had again a panzer and shit lot of Axis waiting with a grenade in their hands. ( and n00bs waiting on the ladder, ready to get shot and to take his teammates with him)
4. For so far I know, nobody had reached the warroom.

-sigh-

But how to solve that? I think there is not really a solution for this problem. So the only thing what we can do, is: hope you stay alive for 30 seconds, or hope that the n00bs have to go to bed (at 6 pm), or get their diaper changed, so the real professionals can play.

Well, As I said it before Most of the time I don´t care if noobs are playing the server, because all of us had been a newbabie for a period of time but, please I just beg for anyone who plays for his first time to read the instructions book BEFORE PLAYING, not after noticing that something is wrong and you get killed most of the time because of your inexperience.
The best happened when SOMEONE as a medic was walking around to find where the fallen teamate( that means ME) but he never turned around just BEHIND HIM to see me.
sad, very sad...:(

I used a compass in real life and it is not the most difficult thing to handle.

It never ceases to amaze me that experienced players are always complaining about "noobs". Without these noobs Wolf will die very quickly because the experienced players such as yourselves are alwyas wanteing to force all new players away from the game. Instead of whining and bitching about them how about you spend some goddman time and TEACH them something?

What will you do if you are successful and no new players come to Wolf? Have fun with the 1 or 200 experienced players, who despise new players, that are the only ones left playing as that is whats is gonna happen if the Wolf community doesn't stop forcing new players away from the game.

Send them the the Konijn server where we will actually help them learn the game and not tell them to stop playing.

Reading a readme does no good at all. By the time you get through the 100 pages of crap you have learned nothing becuase you have no clue wtf the manual is talking about as you have yet to see the game. The best way to learn is to play the game and get help from the more experienced players.

First of all: who said we wanted no newbies on ECG??
Second: we always want them to tech them skills, always. How more Wolfplayers, how better. But if they just play Wolf, grab to the first venom and panzer the can find, and just 'shooting', how are we supposed to 'teach' them anything?
About sending them to Konijn is a great plan, but we can't force them to do that.
And you are talking about Readme. But what we mean is that small Guidebook inside your box. That's all they have to read:D

Nobody taught me anything how to play wolf on line and was the first game I played on-line and without the instructions book. I had to make it for myself. Then you should know the rules if everyone learned with no help Then you don´t need it too

Personally I think someone needs to edit the Beach map and put 'Auto KICK zone' with arrow pointing down at allied forward spawn door.
As an admin, it's tricky balancing game flow dynamics. I've got 3 experienced players being blocked by a kid fireing his panzer at the door. I know he doesn't know any better, and I know that the noobs 2 or 4 second block can cause serious shifts in game territory advantages.
There are others who are just plain ignorant selfish pricks who think they're playing Quake or Unreal, not a team game. I confess to actually enjoying kicking them when they cause a serious screw up.
I've seen Amaryl offer a lot of advice to noobs, but that doesn't mean he can't let a bit of bitchen' out too.

I had a friend over the other night and he played Wolf for the first time under my name (mistake :p) He had a hard time walking forward, let alone understanding where he was, how to fire his gun, who to fire at, what ammo and health pacs were, how to switch weapons, not to block doors, passageways, etc. This guy is in his late 20's and an experienced gamer. I'd hate to see a 8yr old kid learning it for the first time.

So yeah, it's a compromise between giving a bit of advice and trying to make sure the game is playable for everyone.

Keek, I know exactly what you mean about a 'friend' who'd never played Wolfe. My brother(also late 20s) was in town a couple weeks ago and he wanted to give it a try. His most recent 1st-person shooter is Perfect Dark on N64, so no pc experience (ultra-mega noob).

Here was my advice to him:
Be a soldier, but don't expect to get to use the flamer or panzer. When you're a soldier no one expects ammo, revives, or health from you. This way you can learn without being bothered. But above all....STAY OUT OF DOORWAYS...this way you can learn without bothering others.

Most noobs don't bother me. But the ones who say "F*ck off, I'll do what I want!" (esp. when it comes to doorblocking) are the ones I love to rat out.

But the worst kind of doorblocker is the asshat who, when being bitched at for intentionally blocking and also shooting at his teammates during the block (just to show that he knows exactly what he's doing), has the nerve to say something like "Don't take it so seriously, it's just a game"...just like the bastard who said the same thing when continuously disarming friendly dyno a couple weeks ago.

What's really sad is that they think they're being clever. I'm no admin, but in my book these types are immediate perma-bans.

yes I has been kicked by you somtime ago, keek I remember it , when I forgot it and standing with my panzer in the door. what´s more the sound went off and then I couldn´t be able to hear the shoots of the other trying to tell me to move.I´m awfully sorry if I seem I got angry, nobody can think just the same than you but I remember when being a noob about gaming-online first of all I created a server for myself and checked it out all the features on each type of character ( medic, LT, soldier...) and learn how the map was designed to find the faster way to move to next objective...

doug I think in that case you should procced to reply all his statements correctly besides an panzer rocket straight up his face.:D
I haven´t found any of those type of players, but I´m sure I couldn´t hold myself to stay quiet and let that "guy" have fun of everyone.
Something important to let any noob know is the fact that Wolf in no longer a standard deathmatch game and it should be corretcly named a "#nº of players cooperative game" to make them realized that implies a bit of respect for the others and and play fair ( just the fair play you can find in a server where your brains can be spread all over the place by an unknown shot in a few seconds:D)

Well, to be nice about this...I don't think anyones learned from someone else online. Usually players pikc it up on theit own. but on the other hand, when someone says move! it's common logics that the idiot blocking would say to himself 'oh shit, ibetter move' however, if he does not, i think he should be kicked. there's always some idiot thinking hes going to win the game by shooting a panzer in the allied spawn, and frankly, it's quite damned annoying! but keek and all the other admins have done a great job and have had quite a great deal of patience with these guys. thanks admins, and i still say
