The Crapnel Thread
Ok...so I'm feeling bad. I like Crapnel. The guy has spirit. And he's getting better at nade-tossing. Basically, if he has you within his nade count-down radius you can count on eating pieces of his pineapple.
But..well, the truth of it is, hardly anyone is easier, for me at any rate, to kill than Crapnel.
So...in the spirit of the season lets give Crapnel a leg-up
Dude... when you're getting chased, you can't keep running away. Unless you're a medic that's almost certain death. If I catch you on a straight-a-way your head sits there like a perfect target. Stop..move sideways, turn, fire back.
Lot of times I end up chasing someone and I only have 20 health myself..... if they only turned and fired they'd kill me quick.
Predictability.... if you run into a room, 99% of the time you keep running towards it's far exit. If I see you doing that, I know I can drop down behind you and hunt you. Go into a room, stop, aim your gun at the entrance.... I kill a LOT of people doing that. People expect you to keep going straight...last thing they expect is a screen full of red and their health-counter going down like crazy when they turn a corner.

never met the guy (crapnel) but ill keep an eye out for him.. kind of some similiar issues im having - whether is it better to drop down to a crouch position to fire (for more steadier shot) while someone is approaching you - or better to to zig-zag (jump up and down) but have a less steady shot.?? i think, like crapnel, i really nead a refresher course on the very basics of survival being attacked from behind as well as in front of..and attacking in both situations as well.
any other sugestions that might help us are greatly appreciated.

I've heard it said that crouching during a fire-fight is bad as you lose movement control and become an easier target.
While this is true, it is also true that if you come up against someone who, like me, Typhoon, Nazi-killer, Militant, Cyrus, Wraith, Gobbmass and a bunch of others go for head-shots....when you duck we miss you entirely.
Head-shots do 50 pts of damage. Therefore, 3 shots you're dead. No matter what class. It's fastest with the sten, which fires straight and really quickly. Mp-40, though not as accurate, is up there. Thompson is less accurate and slower but the slugs hitting your body do more damage. I think it's 14 mp40 and 17 Thompson for body shots.
Savant uses the crouch feature well when fighting someone going for head-shots. He'll move side to side, leap, run, crouch.....all to avoid getting hit in the head. His return fire acc during all that is fairly good. Better the less his opponent moves.
Basic rule of thumb....learn how to bob, weave, crouch, jump, run, leap during combat. Don't use your sprint-energy up. Most people use it in one long burst. It should be feathered like the Space-shuttle attitude jets.

About headshots...if i see my enemy and he sees me at the same time i staffe or however its spelled and shoot at his body. After a couple shots i judge whether its worth going for HSs. If i think its worth it after 2 or 3 body shots and go for his head. If i don't think its worth it ill continue shooting his body.
The way i judge if its worth it is how well the enemy moves..if he is hitting me and hes not moving very much or well, ill go for HS but if hes straffing really good and jumping all over the place i go for bodyshots. Remeber your first HS only does 5 damage and knocks off his helmet. If hes moving around it may not be worth it to continue aiming for the head and missing shots.
If i see the enemy first I either 1. If he has his back turned i sprint to get very close and then unload on his head. If he pop out of a doorway and then turns my way (assuming i saw him first) i would judge wether its worth it or not for the HS.
Another thing i take into account is the enemies accuracy and his class.
Medic: I almost always go for HS when its a medic do to the fact of healthpacks and 2 hp/s recharge.
Engineer, Lt, Soldier: Unless its a panzer or flamer i come straight at them and take body shots and straff when i get close, if the enemy has very good accuracy like Keek with that damn sten i shot for his head.
Enemy Accuracy: If the enemy is very inaccurate or only getting a few body shots in..i usually play it safe and go for body shots knowing that ill kill him. Where if i go for HS and miss quite a few times, he will have a chance to kill me or someone on his team will start shooting at me. Unless im in real close i will go straight for the head as it is hard to miss.
Alright thats enough of my shooting techniques for now.
I for got to mention Crapnel:
He's absoluetly deadly with nades for sure, and he often acts like a smacktard and just plants dyno in WR the whole game and that takes the fun outta of being allies. He sure is an easy kill though, but an engineer has very little chance against a decent medic.

a yes the bob & weave, something that has stuck to me since 1rst playing this game online, very effective indeed. as is short conrolled bursts of fire.
Im kind of mixed on the head shot thing, like typh said depends on the opponent, for player flat foot right to the head, players of equal/better skill i find who ever starts unloading first wins. (game variables excluded)
another tactic i like is bouncing of all the available structure, keek, vasili, , that pro noob, the NNC boys have mastered this as well, you to NK.
I would like to say congrats to Crapnal for his very own thread
Savant < wishes 1 day someone would dedicate a thread too him

Most likely if your aim is good your going to hit your oppenent almost any where at some point or another in a duel. If the person is getting headshots on me and I know I probably don't have a chance I crouch and aim for the chest then maybe the head. Most of the times I aim near head level if I miss I get air or hit the shoulder area. And the most basic move you can learn as a new player is to never ever ever stop in a gun fight because its the easiest way to get headshots off on you, crouching also is hard to learn you can't just crouch and stay still you must crouch shoot and get up very quickly and straif, all under 2/2.5 seconds or so. I also don't think I will be using nades on certain areas of the map, do not run around with a nade in your hand on heavy populated areas. Youll either get shot to shit and die and gib yourself, or you will land on your nade brining down the enemy with you, or the enemy kills you and your nade gets him, I only toss nades where I know enemies will be going, like the end of the trenches, but in a hidden spot. Another reason not to nade in heavy traffic, if you decide to pull your wepon out it will already be too late. Happens to me, and my enemies.
So basically always move in a gun fight and when your being shot at wether your jumping from side to side like a crazy maniac or sprinting and crouching or just getting your ass outta there what ever it takes don't stop moving. Most people get panzered, naded, knifed, or shot to death because they stop to look at something or to revive always move when reviving, pull your needle out before you get there and then run, crouch, revive, get up, run away.

ummmmmm
ummmm yes here is mine, i don't really care what class you are, since 95 percent of the time I'm chillin in the upper bunker part, I do notice "newer" people easy just the movements, the way the shoot ect.....My tactic is instantly a mouse 3 (which is nade), let it rip at 4 secs, and toss it with a strafe, next any survivors I go for head or body, jumping and strafing, also a "Circle" kill is always good, lol since I play alot on this server, every player has a style, keek always has that sten can hear it going a mile away, and I know where he trolls
, so if I hear I get the nade ready, no hits no prob, found out keek's sten gets hot quick, so he'll try to hide to cool it down, I go searching for him always listening for that nade drop, then pop death by slaughter, lots of respect for keek, lots of duels on the lower and upper bunker, and squareballz he's a nade/dyno guy in wr and his head goes around like a top (lol), strafers are every where, thats the key to survive alot longer, I never crouch (usually just to get bar up), feel that if you sit and shoot, u are a sitting duck, but yes crouching and moving is a harder target. And one other thing is the medic trying to poison you lol, I love when a guy is chasing me, jump over him, mouse 3, don't forget 4 clicks, and pop medic dead, thanks for reading my rambling post lol
....die keek die damn !!!!!!!! lol

Umm Stens are fairly quiet and with all the rukkus going on, i doubt you can hear him a mile away.
You will never believe what happened to me today!
Crapnel was a medic and i went after him and he shot me to death with a MP40!
I was stunned when it said i was killed by him with something other than a nade. LOL!
Maybe Keeks wize words have made a new soldier out of Crapnel
Good job!

i dont really go for headshots i just shoot at the body and sometimes i get some. that works for me. i prefer bobbing and weaving and jumping like a madman in a fire fight because im usually a medic and this gives me time to heal myself but i will crounch and shoot in front of a hallway or some cover or i will crouch if shooting at something that is quit a distance away.
