How to Increase FPS ???

Postby (SEETHER) » Wed Feb 18, 2004 10:31 pm

Does anyone have any good suggestions or commands to increase fps?

No sarcastic remarks like: upgrade your system.

Seether i had a long text all keyed up for ya, then you were gone, default is 90 fps, ive tried many times to increase it, with various commands to no avail, may have to go into your config files and change something, and im NOT the one to ask,

someone will solve this for the both of us :p

I dont think thats what seether was asking for...i think youre talking about having your fps capped because of your config. If your comp cant reach whatever your fps are capped at, then theres no point in raising the cap. But anyways, its /com_maxfps 125 ( or /seta com_maxfps 125) if you wanna raise your cap

I use a config system that dummies down the graphics, I'm sure you've seen some of my screeenies... here is one for example. It takes a day or 2 to get used to it but after you do the game plays awesome!!! So smooth, no lag at all, i am almost always at at minimum 90fps and at 125fps a lot.

I don't think it s a cheat (as you can see by my KR) all it does is smoothes the graphics. You can also change settings, this guy has a clear description of what everything does so you can change stuff to fit your needs.

*Raise com_hunkmegs 50-75% of your current rams
Default 72? Not enuff if playing at this server,
(this will reduce invisible system lags,
Rams r not very expensive now;)

Guess most of fps downtime is caused by #clients in predicts,
Specialties like eye effects and syncing will increase sys lag and lower fps, (tryed synching and it felt like bullet time from matrix; but everyone else was moving in realtime,)

Dumbing down graphics past a set level for most systems will not increase your fps much and probly do more damage to the gameplay,

Cvar tweak stuffs on bottom,

Negativo :(
I did however use Cido's link, which was very helpful. I just killed textures some, though now everything has no text on it, rather funny, I was laughing because whoever has docs looks like some funky green ghost is above their head.

Though when I played this afternoon I noted improvement! In my game as well, could finally shoot accurately. Thanks for the info guys, now if only I could get this damned mouse working properly.
