Question about Wallhacking

Postby ROFLcopter » Fri Dec 31, 2004 2:21 pm

I tried to reply to the time-bomb thread but couldn't - must be locked or something. Here is my question for the admins:

How does one confirm there is a wallhack being used (such as with the case of time-bomb) - because I am wondering how these hacks are "confirmed" by different admins. If it is punkbuster catching them, then that is an authority but if it's someone's opinion, then I have to call those opinions into qeustion. If this is the same time-bomb who used to play with saint or with affliction, then I can pretty much vouch for his skill, considering he played for very good teams at one point, and I can bet 6 top players can take on a team of 32 here and beat them with no problem.

I would just like to know what methods are being used to determine what constitutes a wallhack, be they programmatic or just an admin's consensus.

Thanks
ROFLCopter

btw, if this is in the wrong forum, sorry, but I'm too lazy to switch forums.

aimbots are one thing to be observed, but wallhacks are a whole different spade imo, as it is much more difficult to tell if someone truly has one running.

As far as im concerned, if pb isnt kicking for wallhacks then im not going to jump to conclusions simply because i know players can predict where players will be based off spawn times, repetitive routes, and simply hearing them coming. I will agree with you ROFL, if it is merely the opinion of a person then I'd question it too, as none of us are perfect. In the case with time-bomb, i cant say whether or not he was hacking, the demo wasn't enough, hence the ban lift. I support the concept of having a 100% conviction of an accusation before action is taken. Wallhacks can be observed if made obvious, you know that. . .but you have to take it one case at a time. If a mistake is made, we apologize and try to move on ;)
