I have no problem with this. I think it looks great.
Remember, the only reason it was in black and white was because they didn't have the technology.

If audiences are "reluctant to watch it because it is in black & white", then they are myopic idiots who probably wouldn't understand the humor anyway, and would likely injure themselves imitating it.

the point of touching it up in color. doesn't matter about the choice. it's the principal

As long as they have options, its okay with me. I have some of my favorite movies in B+W and Color. There are some things I would never want colorized though. Stalag 17 is one of them. If they start colorizing Charlie Chaplin then we'll talk.

Well, it's not too much of a problem I guess. However, some films like Stalag 17 would lose their charm if they had been colorized.
