Pop-Up traffic poles are TOUGH!
Remember those pop-up traffic poles from this thread?

Well here's a vid where they purposely ram a heavy truck into one at a very high rate of speed:

All I can say is; Wow, don't f#@# with those friggin traffic poles, they are tough with a capital 'T'. I'm sure the company that designed and built these must have had a little snicker when saw this video.

it would have been a tad cooler had the truck been filled to the brim with explosives. but cool none the less

Has anyone seen these in use. I never have and can't think of much use for them. Maybe at the entrance and exit of a high priority parking lot.

Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.

They seem to be used in Britain.

My short term memory is shot but I do remember that thread. Other then keeping cars out of a bus lane can you give me any other use for these things. They seem to be a bit much for what the use is. Do we really need something that can destroy a car. Maybe a sign would work or a camera to take a photo and mail a ticket. But to rip off the front end seems extreme.

As previously mentioned, they are used at the White House. They are also very common around other "high security" areas, including Embasies and the like.
They have even been installed at private homes for those who are paranoid about a car coming through their living room (an episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition comes to mind where they did exactly that.)

Do you apply that argument to walls and fences as well? If someone ran into a wall would you say it was the fault of whoever built the wall or his fault for being so fucking stupid or careless that he didn't look where he was going. These things are just gates that open down ratcher than to the side. It's really not all that complicated. In any case they have signs as well and the pillar itself is covered in neon reflective crap.
What's worse that the jackass hits this thing and wrecks his own car or that he slams head first into a schoolbus full of children?
Long and the short of it is if you drive into these things it's either becasue you really aren't paying attention (In which case I don't want you on the road anyway) or you are just being a cock and deliberately trying to go down a road you know you are forbidden to. If you hit at 60 miles an hour then your gene pool is way to shallow to carry on anyway and you death will be nature's way of saying that you a a genetic cul de sac. They are not sticking these things on freeways they are putting them in town centres. If you are doing 60mph in a town centre then you are probably being chased by the police.
