I have the z-680s (5.1) and they're awesome - fully THX certified and the sound is mindblowingly good. I use them not only for my computer, but for my entertainment center and stereo speakers as well and haven't even come close to straining them.

:D

I hated them. Like most computer speakers, sub par sound. I'd invest in a good pair of stereo speakers before sub par multichannel speakers.

Swans make a good line: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1

Their multimedia speakers are sold exclusively at Newegg. Their home audio is sold internet direct to customer, and their webpage is here: http://www.theaudioinsider.com/

Bring it, dB! As RC stated, I'd take my z-680s against any other computer speakers any day. These things rock the house, literally.

The are expensive but worth it. This is their cheapest pair, they get better as you move up the line.

Swan loudspeakers were and old company Mark Shifter was part of. He left Swans to start the Rocket line of Loudspeakers at http://www.av123.com I own the Rocket 550's, 150's and 200 center channel. Their Tykes line would be excellent for multichannel multimedia speakers if you have a decent receiver laying around doing nothing.

I have an AOpen boom mic headset. It does a fine job for me costing only like $40. I would like to buy a set of surround speakers in the future though.....

well you gotta remember high timber, mine only cost me 99 bucks... beat that! The mid range is really powerful, bass is good, and treble is excellent... Plus they look really good mounted on my wall like they are...
