I don't see the problem. Surely she is entitled to express an opinion. If you disagree why storm out and act like a child, seems kind of insane to me. Why not just shake your head and move on like an adult? I thought the US was all about free speech.

Whoopi lost her job for making Bush comments as well

It's called an opinion for a reason.... Sheesh.

Mon Jul 19, 2004 7:49 pm

It appears some countries that don't have freedom of speech confuse the matter.....even some citizens of this country don't know the difference.

No, it's called a sound business decision based on their customer base. If the company was moveon.org, she would still have her job.

I was referring to everyday people who feel the need to boycott products just because the person in the advertisement has a certain political view.

I think most people just have a revulsion to celebrities using their pulpit to express their views. I laugh when they compare whats going on now to McCarthyism. Back then it was mostly the government, now its just a polarized public who feel they need to stand strong on every issue. The same thing would happen if she stood on stage and railed against abortion. Same thing with Whoopi. If you're hired by somebody, you have a job to do. That job is to appeal to possible customers. Whoopi and Linda fail to understand that.

She was lude and vulgar which even offends some of her own political persuasion. The owner of SlimFast is a Democrat, and the CEO hasn't been fired yet, so can we assume he made the right decision?

Boycott France!

Linda Ronstadt is a big, fat bitch. She was hired to sing and entertain. Not spew political rhetoric. How arrogant is that to use that position for your personal views when people are just trying to have a good time.
You guys talk about freedom of speech but it was L. Ronstadt who spoke out about Howard Stern a few years back and wanted him banned. But now it's ok for her to slander the leader of our country?
What a hipocritical piece of sh** she is.
IMO

they only give their opinion about a person (Bush in this case), and get 'punnished' for that. Means: no freedom of speech, means: dictatorship, means Bush is a dictator?????
(and means: Bush=Hussein?).
Just wondering :)
Maybe I am saying just nonsense (because it's allready 4 pm here, and I am exhausted). But I was just wondering :)
