Real pilots?

Thu Aug 19, 2004 10:31 am

So how many of you out there should I hate because you have a pilot's license?

What ratings do you have?

Whats the coolest plane you have flown?

What do you think about the "Sport" rating. People flying alone after only 20 hours of dual? Sounds like the real pilots will have to be much more alert!

Anyway, I will have my PPL some day. But for now I have a whole 6 hours dual :)

Anyone near Dallas want to trade web development for dual instruction? :D

You can hate me, I do. :D

I have PPL and Instrument rating. If you get your PPL, get instrument rated. Period.

Make sure you get a good instructer too. My uncle tought me the basics a while back and the checkride with the instructer was difficult. I actually failed the first one for letting my altitude go out of the range she wanted me to stay in. (Them steep turns are easy to loose altitude on.)

I'd be glad to help you out. Fell free to ask any questions in TS or whatever. :D

Edit: And the coolest plane I've ever flown IMO is my Uncle's business LearJet. Not sure of the model at the moment but god that thing is awesome!

BTW....I WILL be calling you various names later, young'un!!!

Well, I have a total of 70 hours(15 hrs solo) all in a Cessna 172 spaced out over a 7 year span. Took my first lesson at age 13. :D

It's real tough financially to go to college and take flying lessons at the same time. Flyin isn't cheap. :(

Hopefully at the end of this semester I will be able to finish up and take the check ride.

I'm not a big fan of the "sport" rating. I understand the FAA wants to get more people involved in flying but please don't sacrifice safety.

I have 378 hours of flight time. I have flown a few cool planes, but floats are the best. Unfortunately I have 0 hours in the last 3.5 years because of school loans and a new kid. As far as I am concerned 20 hours solo is fine. When I was learning you could fly solo to practice after your instructor signed you off. Most don’t want their students to die. Talk about a rush that 1st time alone.

But this is 20 hours to license, not just solo!

My brother just got his commercial pilots license. Does that count? :D

Yeah, If I didn't know how to fly I wouldn't get in a plane with someone with just 20 hours.
