New AMD value processor

The Sempron looks like a very good cheap value processor! (It's a thoroughbred in disguise)

I'm getting a sempron 2400

http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=120645&Category_Code=amdsempron

the 2400 for sempron is the designation for the celeron (newwest celeron, not the old one) that is should be able to out perform.

So it "should" be able to out perform a 2.4Ghz celeron. Which is better than my old duron which I think fried. Iether that the power supply went bad, and I'm getting a new power supply also. (motherboard requires a 350watt supply and that is all I had, mighta put to much strain on it so I'm getting a 400 watt). I don't have any benchmarks of my duron, but the duron was roughly equal to a thunderbird of the same speed, the semprons are equal to roughly equal to the XP chips.

any reason why you aren't considering a 2500 Barton? It's not that much more and will give better performance, plus they oc well.

A good 300w should easily power it. Sparkle 300w are better than most cheap 400w psu.

I have a 3000 Barton, and I love it! :D

SUpposedly the changes they made to the thoroughbred core should give it better performance than midrange XPs but not be better than a high end XP. SUpposedly it should run much cooler than XP xhips anyways so they shouldn't burn out as fast. Anyways suppossedly the bottom of the bucket sempron should be faster than my duron, which may or may not be defunct. ANyways monarchcomputer was having a sale on 400watt power supplies so my grandfather bought it also.

My grandfather was paying for everything so I didn't wanna make him have a super high bill.

BTW a 300watt power supply will not run my system, it requires at least 350 watts.
