Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

I'm an NBA fan. ESPN has the Mavs ranked 12th in the power rankings... what the hell is that. At least they're above the lakers.

The NBA is boring. It's filled with overpayed and uninspiring "superstars". If I want to watch real basketball in its glory, I watch the NCAA. They have passion for the sport and are a lot more exciting to watch (especially during march madness).

March is the only time I watch college b ball. I dont watch very much NBA anymore either, it just isnt the same as it used to be with the 2 MJs and Larry Bird and all those great players. I guess the game has lost some of its magic in my eyes.

Mavs look pretty good. Sure spanked the hell outta my Kings last night (as San Antonio did tonight). It'll be interesting to see how they do against a team with a real center - Miami, Indiana, Detroit, Houston, Minnesota, and, especially, San Antonio. Kings let Vlade go and picked up Ostertag...wtf were they thinking ($6M per year is what...). Dirk looks unstoppable. Certainly worked on his game this summer. Nash who?
My top 5 at this point would be:
1. Detroit (I don't think they'll be here long though)
2. San Antonio (great off-season moves)
3. Minnesota (pretty much same team as last year)
4. Miami (hate to say it but Shaq makes a world of difference)
5. Dallas (Dampier < 3-headed center/forward combo of last year. Finley giving way to Dirk means everything's good)
My Kings...dropping to 10 - but it's early. Maybe, some 7-footer with athleticism will drop from the sky and want to play for the league minimum (what a dreamer I am). Seriously, Webber looks better. Bibby looks OK. Peja is starting out where he left off - in a slump. Christie is hurting. Miller won't out-jump anyone for a rebound (oops. did I say jump? I don't think his feet leave the floor).

Kings are in BETTER shape than the Sixers, adn I will just leave it at that.

I am starting my Fantasy NBA League with some of my friends late. The draft is tommorrow. Who do you think I should have as my top 10?

There are only 6 total teams in my league so our teams are kind of stacked. The draft was today at my house and this is what I got...
PG <----> S. Francis (Orl - PG)
SG <----> M. Redd (Mil - SG)
G <-----> B. Davis (NO - PG)
SF <----> S. Marion (Pho - SF)
PF <----> T. Duncan (SA - FC)
F <-----> A. Kirilenko (Uta - F,PF)
C <-----> J. Magloire (NO - C)
C <-----> S. Swift (Mem - FC)
Util <---> J. Richardson (GS - SG)
Util <---> J. Terry (Dal - PG)
BN <---> P. Stojakovic (Sac - SF)
BN <---> A. Walker (Atl - F)
BN <---> E. Jones (Mia - SG)
What do you guys think?

Really good picks. A stronger center would have been nice but you made it up with very strong PF, F, G, PG selections. I would be very interested to see how you do...

Right now the piston's defense is a bit uninspired. Part of it is that they are a bit fat from a championship season. The other is that Larry Brown has been away for the last 2 games for hip surgery. I guarantee that once he is back he will get the pistons back in form and "playing the right way". Pistons will repeat. I know it's early, but I dont see a roster out there that will be able to beat the pistons in a long series right now.
That being said, Im beginning to lose interest in the NBA.
Most of the players are overpaid. They play selfish, lazy, and uninspired basketball. That is part of the reason we got our asses handed to us in the Olympics. Yes, if we had sent the entire Detroit team instead, I think we would have came away with gold.
I love college sports much more than I do professional sports. The only exception is baseball. To me there is nothing like college football and basketball. You just have to love the college sports atmosphere. Rivalries actually mean something. And the players are playing their guts out without getting paid millions of dollars.

Haven't followed the game since Spud Webb left, hasn't really been any really dominant players since those days.
