I'm happy that I live in the U.S. I really wish all these people that threatened to move to Canada would actually move there, especially the people that say they're ashamed they're American.

If you want my opinion, it was gay marriage that really got the religious vote out. Theres a link on Drudge that says Bill Clinton warned Kerry to support a ban on it. The democratic party has way too many interests under its tent... it can't support itself anymore and needs major changes.

The Democratic Party is going to have to define itself, plain and simple. The last two candidates suffered the same situation, no clear platform. The Republicans also benefit from having an unbelievable effective media machine (Fox new, talk radio etc) that really helps them package their product.

Interestingly though, Wesley Clark was on MSNB the other night talking about what it was like to campaign. He said you spend all your time worrying about how your quotes and soundbites will be received or twisted around, either accidentally or purposely. Look at Howard Dean, can anyone imagine that yelling 'YEARGHHH!' would somehow comeback to haunt a politician that much?

The last candidate I saw that really had a concrete platform: (try not to laugh) H.Ross Perot in '92
I loved that guy, right up until he went nuts with that whole ninjas on the front lawn thing. I can't imagine we'll see someone like him for a long time. Charts, graphs, facts, figures, economic prinicpals...It was a truly great.
