NBA Brawl

Sat Nov 20, 2004 12:29 am

I was watching this game on ESPN between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons. I'm in total disbelief at what I just saw at the end of the game.

Players, coaches, fans...the whole place was fighting.

This was my away message on my way to bed:

Who saw the Pistons/Pacers brawl in the stands with the fans? Wow Artest has some problems and way to go O'Neal, you punched that fan good! Tell me that chair flying through the air wasn't crazy. Good night!

I still can't believe it...

suspend both organizations..it will hurt both the players and fans...teach them a lesson

for the remainder of the year

Disgusting. If i was making a million dollars a year you could piss on me and make fun of my mother for the 2 hours im out there every night, and id still be happy. How dumb do you have to be to charge into the stands and give someone a reason to take all of your money away. The NBA sucks and this just makes it worse.

Well said Hairy...I couldn't agree with you more.

is there any video of it? I can only find stills and the storyline.

In this photo, it looks like someone was giving him a karate chop in the marbles!

Looks like I'm in the minority here. I don't care how much you paid for your ticket or what you feel your "rights" are as a fan, if you hit a player, coach, trainer, etc. with anything, that person has a right to defend himself. If you saw the brawl, Artest (and I'm no Artest fan) was lying on the scorers table - not instigating anything - when a cup hit him. He went after that guy only. Then when confronted by other fans, he defended himself.

IMO. The fans lose their season tickets and get suspended from future games. Oh, and any fan on the floor is obviously looking for some action so they deserve what they get....

BTW. Wallace overreacted to a mild foul...that's what started things on the court.

BTW. Tommy, if you sign up for espn motion (http://www.espn.com), you can see video of some of the fight...

You are not int he minority, but you are somewhat wrong.

The fan has no right to throw anything at any player. Security shoudl ahve been on him in a heartbeat and had him escorted out to a waiting police car to be arrested.

Artest also was in the wrong. He did not go after the fan, he didn't know who he was. He grabbed someone, punched and asked if he threw it. He got the answer no and moved to the next fan, ect. Even if he knew who the fan was you do not charge after someone for throwing a drink in a plastic cup at you. A glass bottle, ok, that can do some serious harm, but a plastic cup?

There were many wrongs here, both with the fans and the players.

If I was a fan that threw nothing and got punched, I would look that player straight in the eye and say '1 million, wanna make it 2, go ahead.' I'd let that idiot continue until I had his entire years salary, if not the entire contract.

Hitznrunz, why would you suspend the Piston players for a full season? because of what some idiots on the other team and in the stands did?

Suspensions are being announced. So far 4 are suspended, it is 'breaking news' so no other information.
