Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Not sure why this thread was locked or closed.. It's not political...:
This is s touchy subject in the music and entertainment industry. People like you and I, love to share and copy music and other media for storage devices, etc. But... people in the entertainment industry see this as stealing thier talent and product they have worked to put down on disc. They are afraid (rightfully so) that people are not going to use the technology for thier own personal use, but give the music or movie, etc to others who might have otherwise paid for the product.

I'm no Political Scientist yet (give me another semester

), but any sentence beginning with "the Bush Adminstration," followed closely by the Christian Coalition, movie industry, Supreme Court, briefs, liability and copyright infringement is pretty damn sure to turn into some sort of political mudslinging fest.

i thought so too.. but after reading on in the post.. it really is not about politics. More about the entertainment industry and copy infringment (sp?) rights, etc..

The entertainment industry is like the Ice industry was in the early 1900s. Along came refrigeration and people no longer needed blocks of ice delivered to their homes. The sooner they realize that their mode of delivering content is over, the sooner they can move on to other things. This is what happens with technology. We're still in the infancy of it all, but I noticed Valve managed to use internet to deliver the goods and found a way to nail the thiefs as well.

For all their whinning they still sold more record last year than the year before; The music industry can suck my dick. If they want sell records they could try signing musicians instead of workshy teenage slappers whose only virtue is that they look marginally better than they sing. I use file share as a kind of try before you buy, if i like a song I buy the album if the song i downloaded sucks ass i erase it from my hard-drive. I think this is the pattern for most people I know who file share a lot. If radio stations here weren't so bad I would probably listen to the radio instead...

Same here. The radio mostly has nothing but manufactured trash that isn't worth listening to. I make mp3 cd's to listen in my car for hours of enjoyment (real music that I ENJOY!)
