This guy doesnt look like he will be pope long.....Looks kinda like he is in bad health already.
Tue Apr 19, 2005 11:54 am
LOL - He chose the name Benedict XVI. Hmmm ...
Tue Apr 19, 2005 11:55 am
a bit surprising that he would not speak a word so far in English or French...
And I agree, he does not look very healthy...

Not in a bad way, but i look at this guy and think of Godfather 3. Is it just me or am I a crazy wacko.

78 years old, not a good move. I'm not religious, but I figured a 50+ year old would be their best bet.

Horrible pick, especially after following such a great man.
Tue Apr 19, 2005 12:28 pm
calm down, it's only a 'pope before the real Pope'.
That's why it's a German, and that's why he's called Benedict, and not Paul Johannes. He will be dead in 5 years, and than they probably get an Italien.
Tue Apr 19, 2005 12:32 pm
I think they are going for older so a Pope can not have a long reign again like John Paul did.
Tue Apr 19, 2005 12:34 pm
Geez, I can't say he would have been my choice either but give him a chance before saying he's a bad pick.
Tue Apr 19, 2005 12:41 pm
Should have been an african...
Tue Apr 19, 2005 1:27 pm
He was PJP's right hand man and theologian through his papacy so its really no surprise to me. For anyone who thought a new pope would bring change to the church, im sorry to burst your bubble but this guy is the most conservative of the conservative
Tue Apr 19, 2005 1:46 pm
Silly Doc, he was John Paul II's right hand man.
