He never made it big as an actor, but it says he made over 1300 commercials. Assuming his career was around 60 years, he made roughly two commercials a month for 60 years! Every two weeks, a new commercial and money in the bank. You gotta give the guy credit, he earned a living in the business, probably without having to wait tables or anything like that.
Well played Sir!!!
RIP.

He has been quoted as saying that the Dunkin' Donuts spots typecasted him so that he was unable to get work otherwise. Everyone always saw him as the DD guy - which, after 1300 commercials, you can see why.

He's been in a few films, but playing mostly bit parts.

Rest well "Fred".

Perhaps he was paid in doughnuts...
Which beats working for an airline. Imagine being paid thousands of little packets of pretzels.

Bio says he was a Broadway actor. I noticed when the papers mention these non-star actors they only mention movie and TV appearances. Time spent on stage is much more important for real actors, that's a true measure a talent. Movies and TV just pay for food.

The very few talented stars have done stage work.

Although "little packets of pretzels" have a much longer shelf life.
:D
