Lacie sells 1 TB hard drives...they have been since about 2004. I have a 400 GB external drive that I use for backing stuff up via Acronis.

But aren't those TB drives really just a bank of smaller drives RAIDed together?

man i only have a 120gb drive, and i am no where near filling it up. What the hell do you do with anything over 200? Like ender said a whole lotta porn LOL

My file server has 4 x 320 GB drives in JBOD config. Comes out to 1.16 TB. I use it for movies, music, programs, and teh pr0n. So far, only 200 GB has been used up. Still a long way to go, :)

Impressive.

What is JBOD config?

Fri Apr 21, 2006 7:44 pm

I always thought JBoD literally stood for "Just a Bunch of Disks" indicating an array of hard drives not in a RAID configuration (i.e. if you have three hard drives in your computer case and you haven't set them up in a RAID array, then you have a JBoD configuration). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yea, it stands for just a bunch of disks...and yes, its not RAID. If my config fails on me, I have it imaged to my 400 gb drive so I'm not worried. I bought a really good JBOD controller, which put me back 100 bucks, but its been worth it.
